X5M // M50i Interchangeable Exhaust

So i was wondering, with these two trims being so close, why aren’t more parts interchangeable? They use the same motor and turbos so should us M50i guys be able to use the f95 exhausts? We only have 1 exhaust option which is pretty lame, not to mention Im not dropping 5k on an exhaust. ECS has a nice exhaust for the f95 costing $3500. i really want it but not sure if it’ll fit. I don’t see why not being that it’s the same motor, turbos and body. I can see the exhaust tips not fitting but that’s an easy fix. Any input would be highly appreciated.

I had the idea too! And I think it's because that the F95 tips are 4 inches, but on M50i they are as big as 3.5 Inches. Also I'm not sure if the mounting points are at the same spots.

for an exhaust system, you almost build anything you want. I bought a CORSA exhaust for a V8 and had an exhaust shop fit it on my V6 (a few guys did this on the jeep boards). You could buy the system but expect that the full system may need to be cut/chopped in places to make it work. Possibly $400+ depending on cuts/bends needed. Sound is also a question that you won't know the answer to until the end.

Yes, the X5M exhaust is interchangeable with the X5/X6 M50 models. You will have to remove the exhaust trim though, because the tailpipes are much larger

Looking into it for quite some time. The problem is finding one.

This sounds great as it opens up options BUT why aren't these manufacturers advertising the X5M Com exhaust also fits the M50i with a trim adjustment or even make a trim

are you sure? i went to a shop the other day and they say downpipes and exhaust aren’t interchangeable because BMW routes them differently from engine to muffler. Idk how true that is. Maybe there’s an X5M owner on here that can put up pics of their undercarriage so we can get a good look of how it’s routed.
