iDrive no longer showing 'recommended' tyre pressures

For some reason, recently my car has stopped showing the 'recommended tyre pressure', but still shows the actual pressures and temperatures just fine.

I haven't had a software update recently, so I can't attribute it to that.

Anyone else experienced the same thing?

Make sure you select the correct tire model and size in that menu.

The selections were correct, but I reset them so it would re-initialise anyway. That didn't work.

I then remembered that I coded the tyre pressure display 'widget' with Bimmercode not long ago. So I 'uncoded' that and the recommended pressure info came back.

The act of re-coding might have reset something and caused the side effect of a fix, but I have the widget coded and no issue with recommended pressure. My guess is that some software variables got corrupted (as is rather common with BMW software) and the re-coding just reset that ECU and cleaned up the corrupted data. Next time, try the 20 second (volume knob held) iDrive reboot and then try the 120 second Telematics reboot first.

What "widget" are you talking about? The one where you hit the BC button on the stalk and it shows the tire reading/temp on the Infotainment screen?

I have the same suspicion - the uncoding wasn't a 'fix', just a reset. When I'm next coding something I'll put the widget back and try again.

Yes. It shows on the dash with the speedo, and also offers a widget on the main screen home screen, like the weather or power/torque widgets that you can choose from.

I'm also curious. I never came across this coding option since my last time a couple months ago. Do you mind posting a picture?

Thanks, I have to check to see if mine still shows the recommended tire pressure tomorrow and report back.

No dice. It no longer shows the recommended pressure.

Did you try the 20 second (volume knob held) iDrive reboot or the 120 second Telematics reboot that LexxM3 referred to?

If you are in "Winter Tires" or "Other" mode it will not show the recommended pressures only the actual pressure/temp.

In my case, the tyres were set as they always are - the standard summer tyres option for 21. I re-set the selection to that just to be sure, and it made no difference.

The recommended pressures returned immediately when I un-coded the widget (I did not make any changes to the tyre type at this point). As noted by Lexx, I may have got the same result with an idrive reboot but I did not try that first.

It is Summer tires.

I have not. Will try it this afternoon when I get a chance and report back.

I can confirm that rebooting the iDrive does not bring back recommended tire pressure. I tried rebooting 3 times and even let the car sleep. No dice.

But myBMW app is still showing the recommended pressure so I am just going to leave everything as is.

Which type of reboot "3 times"? 30 second each or 120 second hold? Also, try manually force updating the apps.

Also, can you please post a screenshot of the myBMW app showing tire pressures and recommended tire pressures. My setup doesn't show that anywhere in the myBMW app (or the old Connected app), but it could be an iDrive or car build version thing.

Good to know. I will still try mine again next time I'm coding something, and update if I can get the recommended pressures to display while the widget is coded to be on.

Thanks. Must be iDrive version, car build-date, or region specific. Nothing like that here in the MyBMW app on either iOS or Android. If region, BMW often-arbitrary regional decisions/restrictions continue to be mysterious.

iDrive reboot (30 sec hold).

Here is what myBMW shows. Delving further into the TIRES link shows each tire and its current pressure.
