2020 X5 ordered today!

I placed the order for 2020 X5 today.Dealer said it should arrive end of August - early Sept.

MSRP ~80600
Discount Price (-9.6%) ~72800

When the finance rebates start to come in, such rebates will be added on. Right now dealer does not have the rebates for 2020 builds.

Will apply for BMWCCA when the car gets here.

I think this is a great price. Was going back and forth between a few dealers. Don't think it can go any lower, as the two dealers had similar prices locked in. I ended up going with the one that has slightly better discounts, and it just so happened that I liked the salespeople working there more than the other dealer. Win-win.

Now crossing my fingers for a good financing offer come the time to pick up the vehicle.

Good deal! Mine was a little over 8% off before incentives. Order placed a few weeks ago. I don't have a specific time frame, but was told it will be in the dealer's first allocation. Hoping for end August / early September as well, and hopefully some decent financing incentives.

When you ordered the 2020 X5, did you negotiate the 9% discount? Where are you located? And how confident is the dealership that any rebates will be available?
My dealer in New England is only giving a 5% discount and has no clue on rebates.

Same here, my car was build on Aug 2nd, let's say fairly loaded, hopefully will arrive (in Costa Rica) somewhere around middle of Sept as 2020 model, is an 2020 G05 30d MSport, did some changes thanks to past experiences, for example, no more sport seats, ordered multi contour seats instead, Sensatec (stitched) covered dashboard instead of leather, panoramic roof (is an option here) no Sky lounge, also no Laser lights, too expensive, not worth it since my driving is 99% urban, also did not order the hydraulic suspension (up/down) Adaptive M suspension which is standard on the MSport and air suspension on the rear

Congrats! You got a great deal. I just placed my order a couple days ago and was able to get right around 9.2% after a lot of back and forth.

You guys are able to get discounts off a special order? Mind sharing where these incentives are? I haven't been able to locate any on my own.

For the 2020's right now it looks like:

1,250 loyalty incentive on 40i (Possibly 50i also, but for sure not M50i)
no conquest
no lease cash
Unsure of finance cash, but I believe that is zero also.

That’s a great discount. Can you elaborate on details unless I missed your post on your build. I am tracking all the discounts posted so when I face the dealer I can argue with him about how cheap he is being.

Do you think incentives will roll out more after Labor Day? I am thinking of delaying taking delivery just to wait for good ones.

No idea on that. I'd presume any notable incentives for the holiday will be limited to 2019s, but I've got no info one way or another.

Not sure where you're looking but in my experience... a lot of dealers will say 10% straight discount is impossible on a 2020 build, some even laughed at me. Just have to keep looking until you find the few that are willing to play ball.

That's been my experience as well. My local dealer wouldn't even give me 10% off of a late allocation 2019. The best I'm looking at now is about 5% otherwise I have to expand my radius to find more dealers.

I don't know how some of these dealers are willing to sell for less than invoice. Doesn't that mean they're losing money on the sale?

I am located in the Tampa/ St Petersburg area and am targeting five dealers when I place my build. Hopefully I will get 8% discount or better. I intend to expand my search to Sarasota and Orlando areas if I have too.

The way I understand it, there are a few situations where a dealer is willing to lose money on a sale. One is if they have a quota to hit which qualifies them for a bonus greater than the loss in profit of the sale.

So for example, let's say they need to sell 100 cars to hit quota which qualifies them for a $100k bonus, but they're projecting to be 5 cars short. They'll gladly take $5k loss on each of those remaining cars to get that $100k bonus. This is typically why you'll get the best deals at the end of a month/quarter/year, when hitting quota is way more important than making a profit on each car.

The other reason I'm assuming is if they see potential for dealer market share growth and repeat business.

Meeting a quota is certainly one reason but at this time of year I think they would rather take a loss on a 2019 model rather than a 2020 model.

Agreed, which is why I was surprised they were willing to go down ~9%

Thanks - those seem to be reasonable explanations. But why Mid year on a MY that has yet to hit the showrooms? Surely dealers aren't pressed to hit quota on cars not even on the showroom floor. Unless the quota is for total cars sold and not specific models. Seeing some of these 9%+ discounts w/ zero incentives really has me doing some soul searching b/c based on my initial communications, I will be ecstatic with 7% on an M50i custom build.

Yeah I don't understand it completely myself. It also has to do with how competitive your local market is. That's where the market share piece comes in. I ended up contacting 21 different bmw dealers in the Chicagoland area within a 150 mile radius and found just 3 that were willing to entertain anything over 6%, and even that was when I told them I have competing offers.

I guess what I've learned from following these threads is when I'm on the verge of buying I should reach out to as many dealerships as possible. Since I plan on doing the PCD, it really doesn't matter where I buy the car, I suppose.

You just need to be persistent...go for dealers with huge inventories...they are willing to give bigger discounts. I have mine on order for 10% off MSRP and 0.00145 lease rate - 2020 M50i
