Check Engine Light; No messages in iDrive
Got in the X5 this morning. Check engine light stayed on. No other messages and iDrive indicates no problem. Car seems to be running fine. Checked gas cap to be sure, and clicked there it should be.
Anyone else seen this? P.S. My Weather Widget disappeared and weather is no longer an option to re-add.... |

I am too dull this morning to find the post, but one must update apps OTA then the weather widget can be installed again.
The post in question was by @NH_F36

This is just after a dealer software update. All he has to do is hold down the volume knob for 30 sec or until the idrive shuts down and restarts. When the idrive comes back up the weather will be there.

I had a similar episode post delivery (with 11/2018.43) where the weather widget would not appear and I had to update the apps OTA and it came came to life. I was then disappointed that it was not like the F15 with 3 days so NH_F36 explained I could just use a voice command to give detailed reports.

He wanted the widget to give him the 3 day forecast like the old version did.

Check engine light hasn’t come back on after the update. That’s the good news.
The bad news? Not only did the update not fix any of the other issues, but I now have no apps (weather, Connected Drive, etc). Nothing brings them back—rebooting iDrive, update apps, etc. BMW is clueless, although in the process of trying to fix it they also removed the car from my Connected Drive account, so now we can’t even remote start or anything (that had been working, oddly enough, despite the app being gone from iDrive). |

FWIW... mine coming on three months after taking delivery was due to a one-time malfunction of the radiator vanes/flaps. Others here have reported similar issues with these, in some cases requiring replacement. My issue was resolved by Service properly re-seating the kidney grill.

Mine was the lower radiator flaps, behind the front bumper. They replaced the part fairly quickly, three days total service time. And upgraded me to 03/2019.35 too.
