Grabber AT3 tires

The local dealer went all out on a showroom 50i and the tires really stood out...Grabber AT3’s. Does anyone have experience with these in New England? Can they be used tear round? They look mean with the black wheels. I will say, the stock roof racks look terrible, they seem to sit way too high. I assume most people go with Thule racks.

Better press shots. You could use them all year - they're designed for 50:50 on/off

Have been riding these in 19" on my F15 for three years now, still first set on. Mileage 40t km. They can be really a pain in rain, but overall I am very satisfied with these. Just ordered a new set in 20" for my G05. The AT3 is the only available all season tyre with M&S and snow flake symbol, for us in Germany important for insurance reasons.

I am looking at these, Grabber AT3, as an alternative for the all season tires I have now for the winter, and possibly summer as well. I live in New England and have the off road package on my x5. Can you elaborate on your comment about difficulty in the rain with these tires?

Thanks,
Allen

Size is 275/45R20 110H.

Well, fast cornering in damp & wet situations you can feel the car understeer, have to say that my engine is the 25d, hence very light on the front end and with a larger engine and subsequently more weight over the front axle this might be different.

Is it awful, no. Had the same tire on the F15 and opted again for the combination on the G05.

An all-season tire is ALWAYS a compromise. Not perfect in dry nor wet conditions, but for me fair enough to be driven all year long. I very much like the rugged look and do not have to worry about changing wheels or sudden weather shifts. Here in Germany car insurances require winter tire qualification as of 7 degrees centigrade and this is the only all terrain tire that has both the M&S & snow flake symbol, thus meeting insurance's demand.

Thanks for the update. It sounds like this might work for me also. Certainly worth a try.

Currently I have 19" wheels on my x5.

My dealer has a special on set of 20" wheels with Grabber tires. that would be about $4,000 installed. I am considering this but it is a lot more than just the tires for my 19" wheels which I am guessing would be around $1,600. Any comments on which way you might go?

I have not seen any place other than the dealer to get these tires for my 2019 x5. Tire Rack does not have them, nor do any of the local tire dealers that I checked with. They do have other winter tire and all terrain options, but whichever way I go, I want to be confident that I have good tires for this vehicle.

Thanks again for your input.

Hey Allen,
I am not sure what to say, the US website of General Tires does not list the AT3...? The German website however does. Weird.

The G05 requires 19" with dimension 265/50R19 & GT does not produce those as yet?! So you might want to look into the 20" option with non-oem wheels.

At the end I went non BMW, due to costing. The rims are 9x20ET35 Autec Uteca and cost 750€ the tires were around 500€ (for all 4) plus sensors 80€ and mounting 80€ - so in total 1,410€ about 1,500USD. BMW's offer for this is 3,860€ (4,260USD)....... no brainer for me. All a question of cash.

My BMW dealer thinks they are a winter tire and that they will get eaten up in the summer. I believe they are rated for summer as well as winter. Do you find a lot of wear in the summer?

@allent:
as indicated in one of the last posts, had the AT3 on my F15 three years and 45t km (=28t miles) on the first set......?! No problem whatsoever.

Mounted the 748M Grabber General AT3 combo on the wife's x5.

Without any tunes, we can definitely hear the tires, but with tunes, it's barely noticeable.

How are the Grabber Tires on road? How are the characteristics when the road is wet?
Would you recommend them, if someone drives 95% on road and 5% off road?

These were an option for my wife's Jeep Wrangler and the dealership said they were fairly noisy compared to the Yokohama option, so we went with the latter. It's an on and off road light truck tire which doesn't exactly sound like It would go well with a sporty SAV. I suppose if you lived in the forest or on a farm maybe where you had 50/50 off-road and street driving these would make perfect sense. Good thing is they are all season!
