Best guess as to when x5m may come off the line

I am trying to make a plan for buying an x5 50i with features that wont be available until december. the problem is i plan on an extended leaving around December and getting back no sooner then April. Since i will likely need to try and time the order so i could take delivery in may. since i am waiting anyway should i hold off for an X5M.
When i drove an x5m last year i actually preferred the 50i but dont recall why.I ended up buying a q7 so my wife will keep the q7 and i will but the x5.
Thoughts??
Thanks

I would think deliveries of X5M to be May 2019 at the absolute earliest. Probably mid to late summer if they announce as expected in March-April.

That being said, I could easily see early summer announcement with production commencing along with the 2020 MY production of regular X5 in August with first deliveries in the fall of 2019.

My 0.02 with no inside knowledge just speculation.

F95 will not be announced until after the X5 M50 comes to market, which is planned for SOP Aug 2019. X3M and X4M will come to market prior to any F95/F96 and figure maybe a year in between. Also, the new G06 (X6) won't come to market until fall 2019. There are lots of vehicles in the pipeline prior to the F95/F96 announcement. Probably 18-24 months from today.

Sure hope it's not 18-24 months. My lease is up in 14 or so. Might have to look elsewhere if X5M is not out yet.

I wager it will be released as a MY'21 but you can order and have it by late 2020.

This is what my dealer/friend guessed after their last meeting.

M50d is already available
M50i some say July, some say next year.

I am waiting for M50i too, I test drove 40i nice sound and sufficient power for normal use but I want something more from hard acceleration and 50i is not available in my country.

Also ticking these two options which are available from April

ZAHW - (Ind) Amarone/Black Extended Merino Leather (04/2019)
XD5 - (Ind) Alcantara headliner in upholstery color (04/2019)

G80 is at least an other year away (when the F82 and F83 EOP 6/2020 and 10/2020, respectively). M8 I'm hearing will be available November 2019 based on feedback from the private no cell phone customer viewings.

I am currently leasing a 2016 BMW X5M, which I have thoroughly enjoyed driving. I currently have around 55,000 miles on it and it has been a dependable daily driver, as well as a wonderful long-hauler loaded with luggage for various vacations and road trips.

Technically, my 3-year lease expired at the end of May 2019, but I extended it by four (4) months. I also purchased additional lease miles for what I anticipate putting on the vehicle for those additional four months. Since my extended lease will now expire at the end of September 2019, does anyone here have actual knowledge and not just speculation, of when ordering may begin and a production number assigned for acquiring, (purchase or lease), of a new 2020 BMW X5M? I really am hoping I can place my order in Sept. 2019 with an expected delivery date sometime in November 2019. Is this wishful thinking....???

Just for some context, when the 2018 G01 X3 came out, the announcement and pricing guide was published in May/June 2017, builds and preorders began in September 2017, deliveries began November 2017. Given we are still at the spy shot/testing phase I'd push your proposed timeline 6-12 months.

Also refer to X3M. Officially revealed February, four months later and I haven't actually heard of anyone with a build in progress, and some special demo tours are just coming around.

Yes, I'm speculating, but unless they reveal this month there's almost zero chance you're going to be picking one up in November.

BMW Blog responded "next month" when a question was posted to the X5 M50i announcement (May 2019) when the F95 would be announced. The Vision M Next is going to be presented the week of June 25th. However, it is rumored the 8 gran coupe will also be announced and the public reveal of the M8 coupe and convertible. With the X5 M50i SOP August 2019, I expect the F95 SOP to be December 2019 (Spartanburg factory updates are August, December and March). But, the M8 was recently announced earlier this month and SOP is July 2019– this is a very quick time frame as BMW corporate is shortening the R&D time and wants to launch new products quicker than in the past. The X5M will have the same style seats as the M8 as I saw the prototypes this past winter in Sweden.

The dealer has SOP dates and estimate is November to December arrival for early allocations. I plan on waiting a year and driving the X3MC for now and then getting another X5M most likely the new comp. excited to see early adopters and what they think. We have a loaded G05 so I am familiar with the layout and size now.

Hello all. Wanted to chime in here noushy and Ibiza about 2-3 months ago you both estimated a December SOP.

Given we are nearing September with no announcement (Unless announcement is at Frankfurt) do you still think a SOP December 2019 is even remotely possible?

Seems grim, I'm in the market for an M50I or X5M. My random purely theoretical guess would be SOP mid next year as a 2021 model. This is based on M50I market time (It just came out, they got to sell some!), X6 reveal time etc.

Also noushy, how is the X3M? =)

Greetings! The X3M is solid a bit stiff but a slot car rocket on the road. Best SUV steering ever from BMW and very nimble and fast. Overall what you would expect but I miss the V8 growl and low end torque. Also the trim is not as high line as 5/6/7 vehicles.

I still expect SOP for the X5/6M in November. It is printed on the dealer info sheets and unless an unexpected delay should be accurate. I saw it with my own eyes and we had a X6M on order but changed to a X7 M50i. Most likely I will pick up a X5M next summer and pass the X3M on to my son.

Be patient it is coming, most likely LA auto show announcement.

Peace,
Noushy

PS probably going to replace the B7 with the M8 comp.

Thanks for the write up mate. I was a bit concerned about that low end torque. Unfortunately my average speed in my M3 is about 20-25 MPH in city driving (98% of my driving). I'm cross shopping some of these cars so gathering as much data as I can.

Then it looks like we have an exciting few months up ahead! Thanks for your insight. The earlier the SOP is the earlier we Aussies get it down here (We get things a bit slower here). Hoping to at least have the opportunity to get one some time next year.

Will eagerly await those pictures of the M8, Absolutely amazing car. Probably $380,000 down under lol.

I'm also patiently waiting for the X5M. I was about to order the M50i this summer but decided to wait. I am hoping it gets revealed at the LA Auto Show. My wife's lease is up in November and I'm finding her something temporary to get through February of next year. Fingers crossed!!
