Thanks skalberti for sharing this. My dr900s-2ch is arriving today and will be installing tomorrow. I have both PMP and battery pack (more cost effective in my purchase) and will explore both.

I finally installed my 900s-2ch. I used the fuse box in the cargo area as it was a lot easier to access. I didn't use the external battery pack because of the 10 min delay for all the switched fuses. With at least 9A draw from the battery pack I'm worried that it may drain the battery during that 10 min delay. I wish it would only start charging when it drop to 80% or so.

Used PMP instead with tailgate fuse for constant power and cigarette lighter fuse for acc (again, 10 min delay to off).

I'm having trouble, though, putting the weather stripping back by the B pillar corner because the cam wires would not go in completely between the headliner and the center vertical panel. How did you guys route the wires here, did you go by the headliner as well (crossing b pillar)?

Leaving the B pillar in place, pull the weather stripping down before and after the B pillar, take a wire grabber and push the. Cam cable through the gap between the b Pillar and metal body. Then just push the weather stripping back into place.

Thanks again skalberti ! That's exactly what I figured should be done and had to reroute the cables. I followed most of your write ups in the OP and responses. Very helpful posts! All clean now.

I ended up installing the B-124 battery pack and didn't have any issue so far. The 10 minute delay is very short to significantly drain the battery. By my rough calculation the PMP/camera should consume more power in 12 hours than with the battery pack.

One mistake but got corrected in software is the rear camera's orientation.

You can flip the orientation of the cameras in the app settings. Mine runs off the car battery for 12 hours while I'm at work. Never have any issues with the battery being discharged. Your Install looks good!

Yup, I was about to remove the rear panels again but thought there must be an orientation setting.

That wire grabber from Amazon!

Specialty Series, BBV-2918. I just matched the mirror mount in my car which has the same curvature as BMW-016. I've seen others used different series.

Hi, does the positioning of the camera where you have it effect the sensor for drive assist?

No issue with mine and I used driving assist for most of my ~2700 mile trip last week. I followed the use of mounts in this thread instead of the double sided tape to attach the camera to the mirror. The dashcam is far from blocking any sensor/camera.

Sure, I used the switched fuse for the cigarette lighter. To be sure you tap to the right fuse# download the fuse map for your car/VIN from here:

Okay, the cigarette lighter fuse that I used is F218 which is consistent with this link that I bookmarked, from another helpful member of this forum.

Also in mine, looking directly at the fuse box, the line/12V is on the right side of the fuse and the load is left side (can check by removing the fuse and checking both sides with a voltmeter). If connecting directly without an adapter you would want to connect to the load side so the original fuse can protect the circuit. If using add-a-fuse adapter (recommended) the common line should be connected to the line side. The original circuit would be unchanged and protected by the original fuse and the dashcam will have protection via the new fuse.

Thanks! i actually tried F218 with a add-a-fuse adapter but that didn't do it. I'm going to try again later today with the info you'd just provided.

Did you end up having any luck?

By the way, do you or anyone else have any zoomed out photos of the passenger foot well fuse compartment? I'm looking to access it but not exactly sure what I need to start removing to gain access.

Thanks!

You may want to read the whole thread, but I followed skalberti post:

https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=24462525

I see you have m sport. The threshold plate has electrical connection to the /// light so be careful when you remove the plate.

I wasn't able to take photos but access to the front fuse box is really tight. I needed to install a battery pack so had to change my plan and used the cargo fuse box instead. It is a lot easier to access and fits the battery pack. Of course I had to route both camera wires (front and back) to the fuse box.

Hi, do you know if the the R7 can be hooked up using "mirror tap" to the X5?

For example, something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...JE1FY0AH&psc=1

Great hook up btw. Very sleek.
