That's interesting. Apparently, it had worked correctly in the past (stays on preset), then was recently broken as you described, and now sounds like back to working correctly. So this is an implementation bug fix, not a feature change — this distinction between an implementation bug fix and a design fix/change may become important for clarity in many cases.

I do not know if this is .39 specific, but just after the upgrade this Wednesday I had no problems playing music from my iPhone X using BT. I even reported in another thread that the wheel would scroll music on my phone.

However, as soon as I got in my car on Friday to drive a few 100 miles I could no longer do this. I still have BT connections for making phone calls, but when I do music the iTunes app which temporarily show the car then bounce back to my phone.

Here are some images that illustrate more than anything that after 8 months, I do not remember how to manage a basic problem like this. I do not have editing software and hope the images do not give away too much.

It happened to me on a March software. I would reboot both phone and Idrive or toggle the WiFi.

I have now turned off WiFi altogether since I am not paying a monthly fee to AT&T and I do not use Car Play.

I finally confirmed this morning that the auto high-beams work as expected. I had to clear a message on main screen but am not certain that was key in this scenario.

For what it's worth, I got my late build '19 back from the dealer yesterday and they upgraded me from 3/2019.35 to 3/2019.90. I still feel like there are some issues that didn't get resolved. No rear emergency brake intervention while using PDC, super late frontal collision warning even when set to early, etc etc. Apparently on fully loaded cars with KAFAS and pano roof they aren't upgrading to 7/2019 yet due to some recently discovered bugs with laser lights, lane guidance, and some high current draw from the pano roof. I did notice that on 3/2019.90 the pano roof opens fully with one-touch instead of stopping a few inches forward which is a nice change. I'm really hoping the assisted driving view comes to MY19 since I just picked it up a couple weeks ago.

For those with iphone/bluetooth connection issues, give this a shot.

Turn bluetooth off on the phone
Delete all phones from idrive
Reboot idrive
Delete the BMW from the phone bluetooth trusted devices list
Reboot phone
Re-sync the bluetooth.


The bluetooth protocol (and hardware in vehicles) is incredibly simplistic and primitive. The add on services tax the protocol, but the handshake connection is largely binary. Either you've got a stable BT connection, or you do not.

I was having a lot of intermittent phone+idrive issues in my F80 (iD5 I believe), which this process took care of lickety split. Was recommended by my non-OEM tech when I called panicking b/c I wasn't getting radar/laser alerts over car audio (very dangerous situation.. ).

I have not being paying close to this, but this morning I noticed that auto high-beams were on by default. In other words, my morning routine of hitting x number of buttons including the one that turns auto high-beams on and off was actually turning the auto feature off.

I missed that later Cavman reported he has this 'Tesla' like Assisted Driving View with DA Pro on his MY2020.

Can others confirm this as well? Does this mean that those of us with 2019 DA Plus will never see this on our dash?
