My key card just arrived. Picking it up tomorrow. Week 48 build (shipped mid Dec after a long stay in QC and awaiting Carrier). Will report back.

Plan to use it this summer, sailing/on the water every weekend and anything on me is saturated with salt water most days. This will be a much needed feature. $58... should have been given to me me by the dealer in my opinion.

The Key card is the ultimate second key to take on a trip. It’s also a great stowaway key hidden under the X5 and has to be the easiest key to hide.

I agree. But I paid for it bc I'll get a lot of use out of it.

Does it come on every x5? What options do wr need to have? Comfort access? Witeless. Harging?
What about a stripper x 5?

In US, it should come with any X5. The manual says something like "your x5 comes with a digital key" without specifying any option. Mine came with it although I have comfort access.

I can't set up my phone as a digital key, does the app need to be open? I've tried it with the app open and with the phone locked, neither worked.

That was my. Onfusion - how will it work without comfort access. You need to tap card on the door. If you do not have wireless tray where does the card go to start engine?

I picked up my new X5 yesterday and the Digital Key Card came with the car.

My husband discovered my Digital Key Card yesterday.
It was on the charging tray ; all I ever saw was a logo and assumed that was part of the charging tray.

I think it is only available as part of the comfort access package.

Love the digital key card. I have mine in my phone case. Unfortunately, with my current phone case, the card will unlock/lock the car, but it won't start the car and I get a 'digital key not recognized' error. The card works fine alone and it worked when I tested it sitting in the phone case without the phone. It's only when the card and phone are in case together that it's not found.

If you have a week 48 or prior X5, the key card is not included. You can order it. I did. Received it today and it works as advertised.

I think the problem is it detects Apple Pay first.

After I posted the above, I tried the card & phone only - with no case. You are correct that the phone was showing the Apple Pay, but the car found the key card and started. So it's something with the case, but only when the phone is in the case.

I suspect that even though the case is not super thick, that it's too dense and maybe the NFC of the card is able to project sufficient 'signal' without the phone, but when the top of the card is covered along with the case that the 'signal' is too weak for the receiver to identify the card.

That's a long winded way of saying it's my phone case.

I finally got my digital key card today. G05 delivery was 12/11/18.

Dealer did not charge me as I argued it should have come with delivery.

No, the phone registers that NFC tag as a payment terminal therefore activating the payment app not the other way around

My key card came in. I pick it up tomorrow. Fingers crossed it registers. Does a key card get listed in your card in the digital key interface before you pair it or will that happen when the car noticed the key card for the first time?

You go to setting—> door/access—> digital key, register it recognizes it on its own very fast, then u can pair it to ur profile easy

Got the card today that arrived at the dealership, put it in the tray for 30-40 seconds, iDrive notified that it activated and then we're we're good to go. Case closed.

I'm still a bit confused. In the video I thought I saw the young lady using her phone to open the door. Is this also a feature of the digital card? If so, how do you make this happen or am I really confused? Thanks.

There's only like one phone right now that will work as the key. If you have any other phone than that particular model , this is the next best thing, and very convenient.
