Got email from my CA late on Saturday night saying that I should be getting a pcd email 'early next week' confirming my date as 8/29. he knew, I just hadn't received the official word yet. That was 3 weeks to the day from me putting my deposit and speccing the order.

Monday morning I got an email from PCD with my CA copied. I've been trying to keep my order tracking thread updated:

Well...I'm just getting started or actually restarted again, but this will be my second one this year.

The 2019 I took delivered of earlier this year began showing red flags. So I decided, with some assistance from the dealer, to order another one and hopefully avoid future visits to the service department.

I imagine I'll have it by late September or early October. It's nearly identically equipped as my 2019, except M-Sport Package isn't an option anymore with the 5.0. It's taken the same path as the sedans and being called an M50i. Other than the engine change with additional horsepower, every M-option basically became no option. It's standard with a comparable price tag to my 2019. Other than the additional options I added this time that I did not order on my 2019 [22's, Glass Controls, Acoustic Glass, Leather dash, etc], there wasn't much difference in price.

My 2020 is on the truck, expecting delivery tonight or tomorrow according to my salesperson. So, I am gonna be one of those absent the roof rails apparently. We'll see how they handle this situation...I'll update as I know more.

Roof Rails Scmroof Rails; but definitely do keep us posted.

You'll likely either get some cash back or payment(s) waived, or the free install of the rails at dealership if you elect. I don't know I'd have them added - unless I 100% knew I would use them.

My question would be - does the roof have the pop-out covers to bolt down a crossmember system? If so, that's the route I'd go if carrying things there were a necessity.

Or - refuse delivery tell them to sell as inventory and re-order, if you've got the time to wait that is.

My Carbon Black / Ivory White extended X5 40i arrived at the dealership this morning and I'll pick it up tomorrow. Manufactured on Monday the 12th and at the dealer 3 days later. Amazing!

Dealer just sent me a pic. It just got there, 7:40 pm. No roof rails it appears, but I've never had them in the past so I'm OK with that. I'm leasing. I'll be picking up tomorrow.

Looks like it'll be tomorrow as won't be ready until after 4 or so and we have dinner plans with friends so wont have enough time today...BTW the dealer wondered how I was aware of the absence of the roof rails. They were unaware themselves, but are discussing the situation with the higher ups. To be continued....

Congrats are in order to a man way braver than myself. She's a beauty! I think it's my favorite color combination, I'm just not ballsy enough to do it.

And I think the rear seats are just about perfect, barely any wrinkles at all to speak of. Maybe the anal retentive 2019 owners complaints will pay dividends for all.

I took delivery of my M50i today (minus roof rails). Very happy with vehicle despite the absence of the rails. Still contemplating what to do about that. Very happy with my dealer, salesman and Sales manager in Grand Blanc, MI. Would highly recommend them to anyone in southeastern, MI. I'll update more later, running short on time.

ok, so just out of curiosity, what is the deal with the roof rails? I have a 20 40i on order and it states inthe build it should have the rails. is this something that is specific to the v8 version of the car, or a trim choice. I did not see rails as any sort of option on any of the potential builds or trims, and just presumed they were standard on all models.

All X5 models come standard with roof rails. BMW is aware that a few early M50i were shipped without 3MC due to an ordering system glitch - pretty much BMW f'd up but It's been corrected in DealerSpeed.

Picked up my 2020 X5 M50i on Saturday, 17th and the app on my iphone is showing that it is still at the dealer and was last updated at 10:37am Saturday morning. So it has not worked since taking delivery. The BMW genius is telling me that the network has been down for a few days. Is anyone else experiencing this currently? If not, do you have a fix? I've read through a few of the related threads but there does not appear to be a clear cut explanation or solution. The connected drive 800 support said take it to the dealer, no help.

BTW other than this, vehicle is great!
