Yeah, the roof rails make it look more aggressive. It looks naked and weak without them.

Nope, no M50is produced through today have had roof rails. They've made about 300 so far.

Just heard back from my RPT at BMW. Ours was a misbuild which makes all of these other M50s misbuilds as well...

Plant Spartanburg has always had teething problems. We had new E70s arriving with the 35i badge on one door and 50i on the other door.

But how is this a teething problem? Its the exact same X5 they've been building now for almost a year - just a different engine. I can see if they were putting the 50i badges on instead of the M50i, but man, this is kind of ridiculous. I'm betting some ppl will get a nice deal on M50i that don't care about roof rails, but pretend they really do care about roof rails.

Plant Spartanburg is now BMW’s largest factory and they build for the world. When new models release there tend to many errors made. Somewhere within BMW Manufacturing logistics there is the option to order the model with or without roof rails even though for the U.S. market they are suppose to be standard equipment. Clearly there is an error within their system.

In the U.S., no. In some countries there is the option to have them or not.

This went to our Area Manager who I'll have to wait to get another answer from.

The X5 is still working out it’s introduction issues with parts availability during manufacturing. The M50i isn’t helping. I brought this up after questioning a few ordering decisions for my dealerships X5 inventory. My dealer reported some options that were deleted during manufacturing on 2019 X5’s just delivered. All bets are off until you see your actual vehicle at your dealer.

This all has to be why adding 4M5 (Leather Dash) was a moving target of availability while I was trying to spec a last few week 2019 build. Makes a bit more sense now.

Which decoder are you using to confirm/deny this on the builds day to day?

[I looked at the MDecoder for my Vin and there was no roof rail option there, but my VIR from bmw does show it.]<--Nevermind, I miskeyed it!

Everybody go check the photo in the "My Garage". Mine is now showing the black roof rails! And in the standard features drop down it lists "Roof rails in High-gloss"

Hopefully "crisis" averted!

Unfortunately my photo displayed in My Garage does not show roof rails and the drop down does not list Roof rails either. crisis not averted

Mine is not - neither in photo nor in standard list

0 - DEMONSTRATOR
1 - DEALER INVENTORY
2 - AT FINAL PROCESSING CENTER
3 - IN TRANSIT TO FINAL VPC
4 - PRODUCED NOT SHIPPED
5 - SCHEDULED FOR OR IN PRODUCTION
6 - ON ORDER

I checked 40i's and they all have rails, so this is specific to just the M50i's

What a big screw up!
