[Updated 9/6] Yet another fun issue from today, (+more issues)

so I'm convinced my car wants to kill me. I was driving with a normal amount of pedal pressure when I felt a pop. well, my gas pedal detached itself from the floor somehow and was dangling there. Seriously what's going on with these issues? I secured it back but it's still not really 100% how it should be. I took a video and some pics for you guys as seen below.

New issue as of 8/23: Chassis malfunction

That's unreal... and it would happen to you given the issues you've had with your G05!

On a positive note, this is a safety critical function of the vehicle, so perhaps this will provide you with a little leverage to get the other issues looked at yet again...

I can't make this stuff up guys, it's ridiculous but at the same time I'm trying to find humor so I don't lose my shit. I already have an appt next Friday (30th) with BMW of San Antonio for the antenna nonsense. I mean I can only imagine what, if anything will break, come off or fail next. I swear this must be some sort of running joke by now

edit: now that the Audi RS6 Avant is launching stateside I'm almost temped to buy one. I've been dreaming of a hot wagon for so long.... but it's an Audi with their awful infotainment dual touchscreen mess so

Holy shit, this is an awfully unsafe manufacturing fuckup. I'm really sorry to see this (along with your other tribulations), but very happy this didn't result in anybody being seriously injured.

Do we now have to add "check if the gas pedal is securely attached" to the pre-delivery checklist?

You need to get rid of this lemon, that is extremely dangerous. I would be livid.

In response to your RS6 comment, I am already in contact with my Audi dealer regarding getting on the waiting list for one, still not sure that it is better than the E63S, so waiting on pricing.

yeah tell me about it. I'm not backing down hence going the legal road. if I took a hit and let it go BMW would be winning and no one here would be done any justice. I'm going to fight to ensure BMW learns that these issues are serious. I don't even know how to explain my feelings now. it's such a mess I don't even know where to begin. let's see what BMW NA does, they will not win this fight, so perhaps they will gain some reason and take the car back.

Unfortunately, it appears best that you immediately ditch this vehicle. Clearly BMW NA has written you off... either you lawyer up or take the hit on trade. You only have two options as publicly complaining is not going to rectify the matter with BMW North America. In fact you are doing more damage than good and it appears they have made that very clear. If you had ordered/purchased this vehicle from a local dealer you might have had a far more significant chance of a buyback, but given that you purchased the vehicle from a dealer in Maryland and you reside in Texas I feel you are shit out of luck. *Note, if you had purchased from the dealer in Maryland and then taken Performance Center Delivery then more than likely it would have played out vastly differently than you doing a ‘courtesy delivery’ via the non-selling dealer in Texas.

Have you looked into the BBB Autoline program? I used it once on my new 2001 Pathfinder that was in the shop for three months. The dealer and Nissan were unable to fix the car and were blowing me off until I initiated a complaint through the Autoline program. Within days, Nissan North America flew in a specialist who fixed my car in about 5 minutes. Nissan also offered me compensation for the issue and time spent in the shop. Might be a quicker and cheaper (it was free when I used it) option than a lawyer.

not yet, I'm going the legal road due to how BMW NA acted in the past with me. while it's not idea I don't mind taking the fight to them, at this point it's the best option given what's gone wrong. I still love my X5 even with it's many many issues

AndroidRobot, I’m sorry to hear about all of the problems you are having with your X5.

That being said, if your goal is to teach BMW a lesson, you may be disappointed in the end. IMO, you should do the best you can to make yourself whole and move on to another vehicle. Just my two cents.

They will never learn, but I'm sure I'll still a lasting impression with a few people. Companies don't change, speaking as someone who works for a large one with its fair share of mistakes. I can say though, some situations have left an impact on how I view/do things which is the goal.

This should be wholly irrelevant to BMW NA who are the ones responsible for delivering a vehicle in safe operating condition.

I agree but wasn't going to comment on the statement hence why I ignored it mostly.

so my gas pedal detatchaed again today, I'm pretty sure it's just entirely broken, I'm going to see if they can do something so it's not unsafe for the interim

Hey AndroidRobot, I don't think you will be able to secure it back. The plastic inside that holds the screw seems to have chipped off. Too dangerous to drive like this. Sorry to hear.

I'm starting to think your car doesn't like you very much.... and was built on Friday right before the super bowl weekend or holiday and not one person actually did what they were supposed too.

Joking aside totally sucks to see all this to one X5. I hammer my pedal from time to time and now will always think did I push it off the bolt....
