Park assist question
So I know that the car auto parks into perpendicular, parallel and diagonal spaces. However, what I don't know is if it also pulls out from a parallel park and for that matter any space that it is parked in? I have read some members here say that it does that but never seen it in action or don't know what option to use to do that in the car.
Anyone has any experience? I do not have the traffic assist package, if that matters but I do have all the other parking and ACC packages. |

I know it has the function to record as you pull into say a tight spot or weird parking lot. You press the button and starts to record so when you leave it will auto drive itself out of that strange parking lot. I have only tested this in a typical place because I have not ran into a real world situation yet.

X5 is supposed to be able to get out of a parallel parking spot that it automatically parked in. Although if the environment changes (ie jerks all around you), I am not clear that will still work. The previous discussion so far is not park assist, it is reverse assist, not the same thing and more or less not at all related to park assist. Anyways, my park assist experiences so far have been extremely similar to this guy's :-)

OMG too funny. I have parking assist but haven’t tried it yet. My reasoning was to be able to 3-PT park without bashing the tires into curbs.
I’ve only parallel parked once, and Mr impatient was with me so I parked normally and yup, hit the curb. Not hard, but sheesh. It was maybe the second day I had the car, so wasn’t accustomed to the camera systems either. |

I have tried that feature and it works perfectly if there is no change when car was parked using auto park.
Conditions for working 1. Car parked using auto park feature and not manually 2. There is no change in surrounding environment after parking, this is not a requirement but things get scary if surrounding changes. How to use 1. After restarting car and when in drive mode, an arrow appear on top in idrive display. Click on arrow to remove car from parking |

So I just tried this out and see no Blue arrow. I used automatic parking and then got out of the car, locked it and then returned back to it, started the engine and put the car into D. No Blue arrow anywhere on the main home page of iDrive so I pressed the Parking button and no blue arrow there also. Am I missing something here?
