Bmw X6 G06 Options

I am thinking of placing an order for an X6 40d.

I have the following questions.

Is the bowers & wilkins sound system worth it over the HK?

Should i choose the crystal gear lever or the standard one?

while I have the g05 and not the g06, I can say that the B&W system is phenomenal. It's easily my favorite feature of our build. If you're into music and you have a high quality music source like Tidal lossless or lossless music in general, the system is the best i've ever heard. it's a huge stress reliever too and 3 months later, it still puts a smile on my face. it's expensive but worth it.

The crystal stuff? lol there's a huge thread about it. We also opted to have that in our build and I think it looks great, and i've gotten compliments from friends who get in it the first time. But that doesn't really add any functionality, it just looks cool to some so you wont really know unless you test drive it and see for yourself.

1) HK for me. Rather spend the money on a home system and enjoy quality music in a large, quiet space. I have acoustic glass but I still hear some road noise. Turning the volume to high makes my ears hurt in a confined cabin space.

2) No crystal due to price and I rarely put my eyes on the stick.

1) HK for me. B&W is priced too far out for a car. If you're an audiofile and need the cleanest of sounds listen to your stuff at home.

2) Glass for sure. Plastic one belongs to 3 series, doesn't fit the rest of the trim. Will be harder to sell without it too.

All black G06 M50d here...

From G06 4.0i owner

1. HK is more than enough, IMHO BW not worth the cost
2. No. But, matter of opinion. I personally think it is more for ladies

+1
Was trying to find faults (in my 4 series) why HK wouldn't be good enough for me, and i couldn't find any, let alone 6000 reasons

Buy the B&W if you like music loud and clean. Everyone gives these high and mighty audiophile answers, but the real reason to buy any high end car audio system is hearing it loud and clean. I am an electrical engineer with nearly a 30 year obsession with audio. I personally believe most people do not understand high end car audio. The goals are loud and clean. If that is you then buy it. If you just want the show aspects, maybe. Everyone else, skip it.

I couldn't justify the cost of B&W but I would LOVE to have it (if someone else paid for it)!

I have the crystal equipment and very much like it, its not expensive in relation to the rest of the car, so if YOU like it, I'd say that one is a no-brainer. Its also a no-brainer if YOU don't like it. I don't think other people's opnions can you help you much on that one.

I have HK and it is perfect for me.

I have crystal and really like it. Don't like the black shifter and matte black Idrive knob. But that is all personal. It is the shifter, Idrive knob, volume and start button that are crystal

Difficult to give an advise in this. Most are going to promote the options they chose and we all had our reasons for choosing.

B&W is much more expensive. The sound is better and the speakers look better.

If you don't have to look at the money and you already made it full option, go for B&W. If there are other options you are not taking because of this I would reconsider. Like head-up, ventilated seats, merino leather, IAS, air suspension, driving assistant pro.

Can't comment on that. The 45e has air suspension standard as only option. And probably the feeling is different with a X6 anyway.

You need to go to your local dealer and ask them if they have any vehicles with the b&w system. It's a lot of money and you will only know if it's worth it based on how you like it when you hear it.

1. I only listen to radio and definitely not an audiophile, so HK is more than enough for me. Like everyone said better try it yourself given the price.

2. Get the glass control if you can. None of the g06 in stock had one so I had to go without it. My wife really dislikes the std shifter so I am looking to maybe retrofit one in the future. Better avoid this hassle.

FYI, I did not get the chance to try the adaptive M suspension but the 2-axle air on G06 is definitely stiffer than the one in g05, both with msport. For me it scarifies a bit of comfort for better control and sportiness. Still perfectly fine though and better than my current gen XC60 T6.

I had a loaner that had HK on it. After being spoiled by B&W, there is no way I'll part with it. YMMV, depending if you're an audiophile.

If the B&W wasn't so damn expensive in our region I would have gotten it. It's a 7000 EUR option
