Ok. I'm a dumbass. I can't figure this out.
When I got my X5MC I turned off the volume indicator on the display. It bothered me that it popped up every time I changed the volume.
Now I want it back and I can't find it anywhere. Anyone?

I don’t recall that being a setting in iDrive, but I do recall seeing something like that on BimmerCode head unit module. did you code it? |

At least in the demo mode (since I'm inside), Bimmercode has an option for "Volume Popup = Active/Not Active" under the Headunit section.

I take it back. I'm not a dumbass. I'm a dumbshit! I did code a few things, although I don't remember coding that. Clearly, I did though. Thanks. I probably wouldn't have thought about that on my own.

Also, I'm not frequently in Bimmercode and could easily forget all the things I've coded if I made a lot of changes.

i typed up a quick document with bullets listing all the items I coded. it took all of 5 minutes and is helpful to reference during re-coding sessions needed after software upgrades

It displays by default, no need for coding.

There's a factory reset option in iDrive IIRC. That should reset anything that's been recoded, no?

I don’t think the factory reset affects coding. It wipes out user settings, setup, etc.

When you get an iDrive update it may wipe it out if it was coded.
