Questions about Driver Assistance Professional Package
Hi, is there anywhere I can find in-depth details about this option? It’s $2,100 on the 2024 X5 xDrive50. I’m interested in it, but not so much for the automatic highway driving features. I’m more interested in the extra safety features such as pedestrian detection, etc. Is there a YouTube demonstrating it? Does anyone have it that can share their experience?
Also, I heard this feature might change the look of the front of the car? Is that true? Lastly, does the 2024 X5 have Augmented reality GPS? Thanks! Last edited by Justgothere; 04-04-2023 at 12:04 PM.. |

the front end change is because the MY24 X5's have gone through the LCI stage (Life Cycle Impulse) which changed some aesthetics and upgraded some performance. |

Thank you. Yes I’m aware of the redesign. I was referring to the extra sensors.

If you want to see what it looks like, visit the BMW website. Their gallery photos typically represent the highly optioned variants. To my knowledge of sensors.. Basic PDC 4 front facing ultrasonic sensors 4 rear facing ultrasonic sensors 1 rear camera 360 Cameras w/ parking & reverse assist 4 front facing ultrasonic sensors 4 side facing ultrasonic sensors (by each wheel roughly) 4 rear facing ultrasonic sensors 1 rear camera 1 front camera 2 side cameras DAPP appears to require the 360 package, so that and: 1 forward facing LIDAR/RADAR sensor in the lower bumper Likely change to the forward facing module where the rain sensor is

In my limited experience, the level of knowledge varies widely between client advisers. Given that the 2024/LCI is new, dealers may not know much, and I don’t think there are any detailed reviews out yet.
On my 2023, there is a sizable sensor in the middle of the front bumper for DAPP. I am not sure if this is also true for the LCI, but on mine you did not get adaptive cruise control without DAPP. |

The guy showing off the X5 LCI in this video (Video will start right when he mentions it) specifically mentions the part on the front looking like it would be the radar for the adaptive cruise control, even though the car is not equipped with it, because apparently BMW decided to produce the same front for every vehicle, no matter the extras.

Ah thanks for the info I figured it would probably just look like there's a sensor while there actually is a sensor that just isn't being used.
To be honest I like that approach as it makes looking for used vehicles a lot easier. When I was in the market for an X3M >50% of the used ones were out right away because they didn't have DAP. Would love if BMW would do that for all of the important options, although there will still be things like lights or optical stuff that can't be installed and then just deactivated. |

So with all that being said, are we saying that there is a chance that Adaptive Cruise Control and/or DAPP can be added after the fact (presumably through subscription based or just updating whatever equipment in the car) if it wasn't initially added/built on the 2024 X5 (assuming the X5 was already equipped with the 360 degree cameras for the Parking Assistant Package)?

The iX is able to add some packages since it comes with the sensors. However, driving assistance pro isn't one of them. You can add driving assistance plus which will get you active (adaptive) cruise control. I imagine this will be the same.

We are all confused about this. Some are saying it's part of the DAP and some say it's part of the Live Cockpit Pro or the premium package. Because Ive definitely seen some of them not have it at all. So it would be nice if we could get to the bottom of it!
