I think I might have figured out - seems like BMW is always trying to pull 90% of stated power rating of chargepoint charger. It might be a BMW thing - I tried this with quite a few charger with 50e and iX. However my rental wrangler hybrid seems to pull 95%+

At 6.4kwh AC station both 50e and iX pulls 5.7 according to ChargePoint app. At

At 50kwh DC seems like iX pulls 45kwh max at 16% state of charge.

The rated maximum watts is important, but you also really need to know how many amps it is programmed to provide. A vehicle won't pull more amps than the device indicates it has, and then, the actual amount of watts delivered then depends on the input voltage. Take a vehicle that can accept more amps than the X5, and the amount of watts delivered will be higher, regardless of the amount of watts it is ultimately capable of delivering.

DC fast charging is very different. In order to pull full power, a lot of conditions have to be met: battery cannot be too hot, cannot be too cold either, cannot be too close to empty, cannot be too close to full …. It is very common to see DC charging pull less than the charger’s capacity.

But BTW, who makes a 50kW DC charger? Tesla v2 is 150kW. V3 is 250kW. Many of the Evgo is 350kW

Many older CCS units were 50Kw devices. That was also the maximum charging rate of many vehicles including the i3. BMW offered dealers a 25Kw device, as it was less expensive, and usually didn't require them to rewire their place to support one.

I finally got to charge my x50e on my newly installed Emporia L2. I have been using the slow 110v provided charger so far. The Emporia reports 7.4KW charging speed on max setting of 32A on the BMW app.
