I just installed a JuiceBox 40A after using the 110V 12A charger from my Chevy Bolt to charge the 45e for a few months.
In 5 years of owning the Bolt, the level 1 charger has been sufficient. Odd that the PHEV and its slow charging speeds pushed me to install a level 2 charger when the pure electric vehicle hadn’t. |

I didn’t articulate my point very well.
I agree and understand that the same amount of charge is going into the cars if the charger is able to max out. What it translates into in terms of usable range is very different. That L1 charger could put roughly 70 miles into the Bolt overnight (which is about 25% of available capacity). The same overnight charge on the X5 might also put in 25% or whatever of available capacity, but it is far less usable range given the X5’s electric traction efficiency. And the L1 charger at 12A basically couldn’t fully charge the X5 overnight. Last edited by Celos; 09-08-2023 at 12:18 AM.. |

50e here, using the 'flexible fast charger' that came with the car. Bought the 14-50 adapter for 200 bucks to actually get fast charging.
