50e Gas Consumption

Can someone explain to me what is going on here. Sorry if I’m missing something super clear.

Drove fully In Hybrid mode… have gas consumption showing as 0L/100km on this trip. Way i interpret this is I made it from A to B on full electric.

HOWEVER my electric range and gas range are both dropping.

By close to the same amount.

Started the trip at

778 km left in Gas Tank
79km on Electric

Drove 13.1km
Ended with

762km left in Gas Tank
64km on Electric

So driving 13.1km I lost
16km of Gas Range
15km of electric range.

All while the trip meter showed 0L/100km and 25.6 kWh/100km.

Couple pictures below. Took the first picture mid trip but same concept applies from km 8 to 13 of trip.

Consumption of actual energy used is real...estimates of range to empty is an assumption that your next use will be IDENTICAL to the past 18-miles (30-Km) or so (which doesn't happen often).

If you were to set the cruise on a highway without needing to stop, the numbers might go up if the previous use was stop and go in a city. If you rely on the numbers for an absolute range, you'll be disappointed, and maybe stranded...it is an approximation based on previous use with a sliding window.

the apparaent gas range is actually the sum of gas only and electric only, a bit misleading for sure...

Not misleading at all, that is the total range left, not just gas, as explained in the manual and as denoted on the icon.

Yeah, I always thought that should be a gas only measurement.

Garage List
but wouldn’t you wanna know all mileage available to you? to me it makes sense to show combined range. the vehicle is defaulted to notify when you when available fuel provides less than 50 miles (or is it a different number?)

You can view gas only range in the My BMW app, FWIW.

I've gotten used to just mentally subtracting the current EV range from the total range.
