DAP does not require the external cameras, it uses the KAFAS camera and the sensors.

.
Coding is not possible on the LCIs.

i'm pretty certain not all cameras are included with DAP. the KAFAS camera is standard. the front, rear and side cameras come with the Parking Assistant Package

if someone with DAP alone goes into their ConnectedDrive store, i'm willing to bet the Drive Recorder subscription isn't even listed. maybe i'm wrong?

The rear view camera is standard, the front is not. The camera that is used for Active Driving Assistant features is the KAFAS camera. The drive recorder requires the rear in addition to the sides and camera in the front grill.

That is correct. BMW has changed the coding so it requires server intervention. The days of being able to code are over unless something drastically changes.

Well now I'm hating iD8 even more than the original assessment. UI sucks, iD8.5 is literally no better and now no way to code. Seriously wish I would have taken the extra mile to buy the 2023 X5 40i that met all my needs including B&W audio but at a dealer in Texas. I was under the gun to purchase something given the wife's 2017 X5 was totalled by the insurance company and didn't want to have the extra hassle of an out of state purchase, deal with AZ DMV on the taxes, etc.

Education now dictates should have done it but living in the world of technology for a 30 year professional career also dictates if there is a will there is a way. So I'm now going to personally start a white hat hacking campaign to figure out how to get Esys to connect to iD8. F BMW. 😜

As for the big brother BMW cloud aka servers I already have that negated in my privacy settings no different than iD7. My professional career is in all things technology (I'm a CTO) but the first hat I always wear is security which includes privacy. The iD8 privacy config is similar to iD7 but if I need to I'll eradicated even the MyBMW app access to enable private coding.

Connecting isn't the problem but rather having the CAFD are not available anymore since they aren't being distributed. It is possible someone will eventually leak one but it would only be good for that version and also would have to be decoded.

Here is some info regarding Coding 2.0/Secure Coding. https://bmwi.bimmerpost.com/forums/s....php?t=1965217

Thanks and an interesting read. Living in the world of IT security I'll bet my next year's bonus that not only will CAFD files be leaked but an interesting individual will determine how to keep the coding local (requiring ptoper privacy settings) and the end result being forgoing OTAs. I had my M850i updated to 07/2023.45 which wiped out my Anti-Dazzle but just replayed the Esys coding and now no more updates at least for the next year or so.

iD8 is a complete shit show in so many levels even forgoing the coding capabilities. The lack of hard buttons for distance control for ACC on the steering wheel plus speed limit control is an absolute joke. Sure I found speed limit control buried in the iD8 settings but they only apply when in DAP. Not the case with iD7 and the steering wheel control on my M850i. Not losing much sleep over it as although the 40i is peppy but even in sport mode it can't touch the M850i in Eco Pro which one will find themselves an easy 10+ over the speed limit in a blink of the eye without the speed limiter control.

Am I reading correctly? The laser light can be coded to full functionality for the us market?

If you have a pre-LCI vehicle then the anti-dazzle can be coded, the higher European output can not.
