Im in the process of putting together our Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms room, we just moved to a new place and are renoing a room in the basement to house our gun safe, humidor, wine and whisk(e)y collection. I'll put up a pic but, the wine racks are in and partially filled, I have about 100 bottles of whisk(e)y, rum and bourbon on the floor right now as I have to figure out what kind of shelves to build.

Excellent filing system! No need to get up off the floor when you need another drink...😉

Looking forward to this thread. But what I don't want to see if someone keeping a bottle just to make their collection seem bigger when I know you only have one or two sips left in that thing. Come on. Finish it and replace it already.

Small, 130 year-old house = small bar but here's mine... Something for everyone. Scotches on the left, bourbons, vodka and gins on the right.

Brit here, isn't keeping guns and alcohol in the same room (along with seating) a little stupid? I know you Americans like your guns an' all but surely this is pushing it a bit even for you guys?

Double check location of post that originated the dialogue. That was the point of the post by kscarrol

Do you drink Dixie beer? I used to love that 15/20 years ago, but the last six pack I got last year sucked. Did they change it? Or maybe my taste has changed.......

Isn't Canada still considered part of North America?

Yes it is. But you specifically said "you Americans" while our northern neighbors are known as Canadians.

Don't get bent out of shape at a little humor! I very intentionally added the laughing emoji after my comment to emphasize I was trying to be funny but it appears that was a wasted effort on my part.

No I was just checking. You never can tell with people like Trump in charge. My question still stands though, is it really a good idea?

I will let Murp (poster of the offending picture) answer that as he is a retired police officer with ample training in firearms.

It's a great idea. If a Brit who doesn't know the difference between Canada and the U.S. arrives and tries to steal liquor, weapons will be readily available for defense.

On occasion but will never be my first choice. And yes the old Dixie you drank went out of business a number of years ago but the Benson family (also owns the Saints) bought the brand. Supposed to be the original recipe but who knows...

I actually just bought the Dixie swag as the PC police have the owner changing the name, bad history associated with the Dixie name as you can imagine. Changing the name to Faubourg Brewing. I just wanted some memorabilia of an old NOLA brand.

We are more into wine than anything else these days, except maybe gin. We haven’t entertained this year so collection of bottles is low. But this custom built wall unit is where everything is stored and served. Wine fridge at bottom (with an older one in another room), center prep area with granite insert pulls out, storage for crystal and pull out panels for bottle storage.

My advice is get a good range of bitters, Campari, Aperol, agnostura and at least two "Amaro". They are both vital for mixing as well as using as an aperitif. Personal favourite Amaro are Montenegro and Nonino.

Is that a pool table I see in the reflection? Nice.

Throw in a couple of big screens and you're set!
