Keep in mind that this car rarely went for MSRP in my area and usually has a markup in the range of 2-10k. So I took advantage of the price and went out and got a better rate roughly 6 months later.
I had one of the original Rs, the 2004 R32! What a fun car.

Yea I could do that but realized I should make an effort on a new one first. If I can get one 8-10% off it’s not much more expensive than this 2022 CPO for 81k.

Also - I cannot stand being lied to. It is by the worst trait anyone in business can have. You lose trust everything else goes out the window with me. If they were just honest about their markup I’d be more likely to do that. But now I have to ask myself - what else they lying about. Not about to drive 3 hours to be disappointed in another used car.

We're in the same area. I buy and help family and friends buy cars quite often and am no stranger to negotiating. The Golf R however is a specialty car so I was willing to make an exception. At that time if you wanted to score a blue one with a DSG the lowest you could get it was 3k above MSRP. Fast forward to today and any new Golf R will have an ADM. Finding one at MSRP today and being able to actually buy it is akin to finding a unicorn. The same can be said for the big brother, the RS3.

Completely understand, it's a matter of principle. I tend to prefer new cars myself, especially performance cars. Though the reason I went for my 2022 was because I didn't like the new LCI interior. So if your preference is for the 2022 then your choices are limited. Also not sure how availability is in your area for a new one so time may be another factor.

Very limited new 23s left so time is a factor. I do not want the LCI either.

So after all of this. The sales manager called the regional head and confirmed that these rates can vary from state to state or region to region…

Bottomline is I thought he was really honest from day 1. The issue with the rates caught me off guard… but looks to be a miss-understanding.

They are giving me a phenomenal deal on my m550. So even if the rate is bad - I’ll just refinance it…. Can no longer let perfection be the enemy of good. This is by far the best deal for me. Absorbing the least amt of negative equity.

They are also willing to drive it 4 hours to me for free and take my m550 back.

Original owner did ceramic coating and ceramic tints. Will finally post an official thread if this thing comes to me tomorrow
