2021 xdrive45e rear door open sound

I have had our xdrive45e for a couple of weeks now and I am very happy about the car. There are so many new knobs and controls to learn about!! (coming from a 530e).

Is the "loud" unlock sounds when opening the rear door normal? It sounds like a clunk when the latch unlocks and is somewhat disconcerting to hear. Is this normal?

Thanks folks, good to know this isn't something to take to the dealer. Hopefully it fades out in mine as it did for X5 45e.

I realize this is not related, but your comment made me think - is it just me or does the x5 have incredibly slow windows? I can't tell if something is wrong, or if the windows are actually supposed to take that long to open and close.

They are slow indeed. There is another thread about this.

Seems like entirely different motors that what I have experienced before (in G30/F30). Slower and has a distinct sound. Lusssurrry

Slower windows likely also mean less expensive, lighter motors. With the one-touch feature, it's not a big deal to me. Now, if I had to hold it to open or close, that would be a pain. Slower also means you have a chance to stop it at a particular point more accurately, if you don't want it at one extreme or the other.

The clunk on the hatch could be construed to be a safety feature...you can't miss that something's going on!

Yes, unfortunate, it is the way it is, very annoying. As well as the rest of the car put together, this one screen un-refinement. Even much cheaper car's tall gates don't sound like that. It wakes up sleeping baby every time.

yes, and it is slow even compared to other BMWs. This is so far is a less of issue than the loud "pop" when opening the tail gate.

The rear upper hatch closing "THUNK" scares the hell out of me every time I close it.
