I know, I know,... this is more just a rant. I just don't get why BMW doesn't add a trailer hitch option for the X5M and X6M when similarly priced (and more expensive) SAV's, SUV's have them! Now that the shifter is gone in the X5M60i, I would much rather the X5M but would not be able to use a trailer hitch mounted bike rack or occasionally tow a Uhaul (in lieu of loading the interior up) for moving large items with my SAV. What gives BMW?!

I hear you. I don’t understand why BMW North America doesn’t put more R&D in a hitch. Yeah, we can retrofit one with https://stealthhitches.com/products/...~mk_bmw~md_x5m but why not give the option from the factory like in the rest of the world

The R&D has been done for the X5 and X6 but presumably something is different enough with the M variants that it can't simply be added as a factory option? Porche has a hitch across their entire SUV model lineup, including TURBO Models. So does Mercedes. <<<Insert melodramatic tone here>>> Why NOT BMW, WHYYYYY????

Could simply be they did market analysis and found the tiny amount of buyers that would order it didn't justify the design and production costs to create a different X5M and X6M rear diffuser.

When I bought my 21X6MC there was no hitch option for Canada, but strangely the 8SL trailer pigtail was included as standard. I installed a stealth hitch anyway. BMW minds are a mystery.

Bmwna called me shortly after my purchase of the x5m and I asked about this. Why is the x5m/6 avaliable with a hitch everywhere but North America? They said there were some differences in the NA model muffler or rear end. I think it's bs.

The hitch IS a factory option on the x5m/6!
