In my opinion Pre-LCI Looks better. Don’t like the triangle looking DRLs or how the Black trim unites upper and lower grill.

Well done BMW. I will be trading my pre-LCI for a CPO LCI next winter/spring. The exterior is a clear improvement to me. There is more differentiation from the M60i on the exterior front on the LCI than the pre-LCI had to the M50i. It is much more modern and those horizontal grill slats just yell sportiness and aggressiveness to me. Updated taillights don’t do anything for me. Interior of LCI is identical to M60i minus gear shift and seats. Having some new interior color choices would have been nice. Getting used to button less climate control seems like it will be annoying but if you’re staying with BMW it is inevitable. Do I need to trade my pre-LCI in for one of these? No. Will I do it anyway? Absolutely.

Co-sign the Lexus vibe comments. I'm a fan. Not sure if I'm enough of a fan to want to turn in my F95 early for it. Sounds like the F95 will be the last pure petrol V8 X5M. Methinks I will buy this one out at the end of the lease and wait a few years til they do a complete redesign and interest rates cool off a bit.
Also, this one looks a bit "buck-toothed" in the front. The air inlets on the corners are to angular and the grill extends a bit lower (to my eyes anyways). Also not a huge fan of the new iDrive display. Looks too much like a Tesla. I like the cluster and the infotainment to be separate. Personal preference I'm sure. Not a bad LCI, but in all honesty: nothing to see here unless they offer me something ridiculous for my trade. My interest rate is so low, the payment would probably be $300-$400 higher. Questions/Final Thoughts: 1.) Are the star-spoke wheels coming back finally? 2.) Is the Panoramic Skyline LED Roof available stateside now? 2a.) Same goes for the automatic luggage compartment cover thingy too?

Agreed on it looking like a lexus frontend... I'm wondering if I want to bother paying a shop to paint that portion of the bumper to match the body. |

The only other justifciation for removing them is that perhaps the voice control has been given a massive improvement and really is totally natural and just works. |

Lasers are dead across the industry, massively more expensive, especially to replace and no one was really counting on LED's getting so much more efficient and not needing the massive cooling that early LED's needed. There's just no reason to have the technology anymore with the massive generation shift in LED's.

Apparently Idrive 8 doesn’t share location data with iOS like previous versions did so if you drive into a tunnel or keep your phone hidden from view you can’t use Waze etc. Presumably this is a software oversight but bmw have been radio silent.

Isn’t the location gathering all done by the iPhone? My understanding is the phone is doing its own navigation just as it would be if you were sitting in someone else’s car holding it in your hand, or walking, and when CarPlay is active it is streaming that data over WiFi direct, just with a different UI that is more optimized for the car. I am probably missing something. Hopefully they fix whatever the problem is at some point, now that they are doing OTA software updates.

With idrive 8, CarPlay navigation does not work If running navigation apps on your phone like Waze, Apple Maps, Google Maps, etc. There is a programming bug in idrive8 that makes the car’s GPS malfunction when running CarPlay. The exact problem is that the navigation will show the car somewhere other than where it is rendering the navigation useless. BMW issued a TSB for the problem only for people to find out the TSB doesn’t fix the problem. After this much time has passed since idrive 8 first appeared on the i4 and iX, I have concluded that BMW can’t fix the problem or can’t fix it cheaply and they are pretending the problem doesn’t exist. This problem, combined with the price hikes and other things I dislike, is a dealbreaker for me. It’s a shame because my G82 is my 27th BMW. As it stands now, it might be my last.

The problem is bigger than this. If this was all it was then I could live with it.

Barges and ships have even switched to LED's because of their capacity. LED capacity was restricted by the heat that was produced but by the die shrinks as time have passed the capacity has grown at an exponential rate, while thermals have not budged and in many cases decreased. Biggest advantage of lasers at this juncture is color reproduction accuracy as compared to led, not raw lumen capacity. |

My 2cents:
The complexity of the hybrid unit in the transmission makes me nervous. The reported extra weight of the hybrid unit is problematic, but I only see +50lbs 2023 to 2024? Maybe they reduced weight somewhere else? I think I read the battery is in the engine compartment. If so that will add weight to nose of car and possible understeer. Darn. Want those carbon fiber paddle shifters for my f95. Cool interior tweaks like that M on the dash. Long rectangular screen looks out of place. Not so much integrated as it is stuck onto the dash. Aweome looking suv.

On the bmwusa.com homepage right now, they show off the LCI F95 and G05 back to back, and the first thing that hit me is the horizontal slats on the F95 snout and the vertical slats on the G95. Interesting to see that departure.
Also, is it just me or has the front DAP sensor gotten considerably wider? That sucker looks plump. |
