Hi everyone! I'm super excited to get my first BMW!! My order was accepted on January 21st with a week 9 build week. With past experiences, when should I actually expect the car to be built? Thanks again!!

No special colors or anything. I ordered a black on black with all options(executive and drivers asst package, B&W stereo, etc).

Back in October when I placed the order, my X5MC took 5 weeks to arrive at the dealership. I would say you should get it in early to mid March.
If you didn't know it, be sure to check out the X5M/X6M sub forum.

Good luck with the wait. It's tough, but well worth it.

Congratulations, hopefully the wait isn't too bad. Good luck, enjoy and be safe.

Congrats!! I'm in the same boat as you. Order accepted on 1/21 and it was scheduled for week 9 production. Last time I called BMW Genius they said its going into production the week of 2/21. Hang in there, it'll be worth the wait!

Do you talk to a live person or just the recording giving you the status?

I always talk to the live person. The automated system doesn't really tell you much

My order was accepted Jan 23rd and I was given week 8 as a build week. I'm thinking it will be completed by the end of that week and at the dealer sometime during the last week of Feb. I'm in Tx but I went through a dealer in MS because of a better deal. I may travel to get it to save money on a transport.

So far this is my timeline:

Order Received: 1/23/2021
Scheduled for production: 2/1/2021
Production begins: 2/4/2021 (VIN assigned)

Production begins only means the VIN was assigned and they've ordered what's needed for the build.

Congratulations!

I guess I'm not sure really what you're asking...if you have a Week 9 Build slot/allocation from your dealer, then barring a parts/materials issue that comes up closer to build time (which you can't predict, but unlikely), then you're looking at 3/1/21 - 3/7/21. As you get closer to that week (probably the week before), the Genius line should be able to tell you closer to the day. At this point, no way to tell...

I believe week 9 is the week starting Feb 22nd from what I was told.. The Genius said they count Jan 1 as the first week. Yesterday I was told I got moved up to week 8, which I hope is Feb 15th. I'm not sure if that makes sense ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ haha.

My wife's X3 was a week 6 build.. Put her order in on 1/23 as well. 1/25 it said Scheduled for production. 1/26 it said production begins with estimated completion date of Feb 11th. So it said started production week 5, and completion date is week 7.

Do you mind telling me if you got it at anything off MSRP?
Looking to buy one for my wife and trying to get an idea of what to expect.
Thanks!

Discounts vary by region. Many areas have been seeing discounts in the 8-10% range although those seem to be coming down a little lately. A few areas seem to be in the 5-7% range and Washington state usually lower.

I'm going to guess that you probably got bumped up a week (or two). Week 6 would start on 2/8/21. As you get closer to your build, vehicles marked as sold can get bumped ahead of dealer inventory vehicles. So, I'd guess that was more of the reason for the pull forward.

Unless something has changed recently, BMW uses ISO-8601 Week calendaring. (This has been noted in numerous threads on Bimmerpost, in various forums over the years...) So, Build Week 1 for 2021 started on 1/4/2021. Build Week 9 starts on 3/1/2021. This is a good reference for week purposes: Epoch Converter.

I think these continue to be unprecedented times, so getting bumped around in the Build week schedule could easily be happening with supply chain chaos, etc.

Of course, I hope you get your new X's sooner than planned!!

Gotcha...so I got moved up then. My expected completion date is Feb 21 for the X5 as of this morning. Called the Genius and it moved to production begins status as of this morning.
