Rear Travel & Comfort tray system pics.

Just received the rear travel tray from my dealer. Overall impression is very heavy duty and of high quality. A strong spring mounting system attaches between the head rest support and that’s it. The tray feels very “Executive first class”. The flip down cup holder is very solid and flips up out of the way when you don’t need it. The entire tray can be flipped up like a video screen sitting behind the front seat when not on use. Best of all the entire system can be removed from the headrest in 10 seconds so it’s very modular. I am taking the family on a 2200 mile trip this month to Disney so I will get my kids feedback. I suspect they will use it to hold their iPads and other stuff.

Second location mounting for 2019 X5.

Thought it was supposed to clip in to the port built into the seat by the USB-C? Is this the old model?

New model.
Only the iPad holders, coat hanger clips there. The travel tray would be too low and not enough support if clipped in the back of the seat. Notice where it hangs doesn’t affect the ambient lighting and looks like the lights come from the bottom of the tray. BMW thought this system out very well.

Does it extend out at all? Is it easily reachable for kids in a car seat?

Sorry to bust your bubble, but you are using the old design. The newest design tray tables do in fact insert into the back of the chairs, has an adjustable rear support arm, and are adjustable for height.

Can you find a part number on that one. My part number matches the pdf accessories on the top of the forum. My part number is:

The connector that you're using to connect to the headrest bar should fit directly into the seat back receptacle. Just detach it from the bar. And get a refund for the bar.

Well that was easy. Now there are two mounting locations for the same tray. Brilliant BMW design.

Thanks for sharing. It looks like a great device.

My take away from your photos is how totally awesome your interior looks. That Ivory Merino with the piping is just stunning.

I ordered the same thing but I had to do it sight unseen and just go by the configurator photos and a couple of Youtube videos. You photos really do it justice.

Thank you. You won’t be disappointed as the white is even on the bottoms of the seats as well. Very dramatic. It gets comments everywhere it goes.

So I just picked up my brand new G05 today.

I'm based in Australia. Part of the deal was they would provide me with 2 iPad holders.

However, the parts and accessories guy has told me the only models BMW make for iPads are now for 1,2,3,4 and 1,2,3 minis. No pros, no iPad 5 and 6. He told me BMW don't make them for the newer models anymore, which makes no sense.

Anyone know if this is true?

It's very likely the old design fits in to the new port and they don't know it, that's what they said with the hook I bought as well, but it worked great.

The old and new design is exactly the same but the old has the additional mounting hardware for the headrest bars.

I think they do have them for the older smaller Pro model. I was just going to buy 2 refurb Air 2 iPads and leave them in the BMW for my kids. I can do the entire rear entertainment system for under $700.00. The factory rear system allows too much vehicle control for my comfort zone. I don’t want my kids accessing the GPS or climate.

Yeah, but look at all those wrinkles!

I just got it and using the built in mount on the seat makes the table way too low. Even in the highest setting my knees can't fit under and certainly won't work with my kid's booster. The adjustment available on the table is terrible and only goes LOWER.

I have the same issue when I would sit in the back behind myself. For me on the driver side they are quite low because of the driver seat position with my length. However it works for my children (9 and 10) because they are smaller. But with a booster it will be to low probably like you experienced.

You could buy the comfort and travel mount for the headrest? Like shown in the first post.

I did get one. I just feel like it'd be cleaner to use the built in mount.

Is it better when you use that one? I might consider buying one too. The tables in that position are useless for adults like you mentioned.

Unless somebody found a trick to raise them ?

On the passenger side it is better because of the seat position.
