Ordered the alcantara one discussed above and it's really ice. only downside is it doesn't seem possible to hang any other keys off it once it's in it's "pocket".

What's the reception like with the CF cover? CF being conductive does this act like a faraday cage blocking or diminishing signal?

I got one that allows for easy removal of the inner key without the need to disassemble the case.

In the market for a key fob cover now after a valet dropped the key on the floor and gave it a few dent marks. I admit the key itself without a key ring is a bit heavy and easy to slip out of the hand.

Anyone used the OEM cover? Vehicle's interior is in Vernasca "coffee", but the G05 accessories list suggests this one in "Mocca" as a compatible accessory. It's probably compatible in terms of key size, but what about the colour? Does anyone know?

Part # 82-29-2-408-819
https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-part...ha-82292408819

Otherwise, I think a black one (82 29 2 344 033) would be more neutral than a brown of a different hue.

Yeah, I've got this and while it looks great, it made the key too bulky for jeans pockets, so I took the case off.

I did have a few instances where auto-unlock didn't work with the case on, but I couldn't swear the case was the reason.

If you do want to manually unlock with the key though, it's fiddly with that particular case as you need to swing the key out.

It does look good though!

I was about to get the OEM cover cuz it looks nice but involves taking it out of one's pocket or handbag/purse in addition to flipping it out of the cover to access the buttons. I also have Vernasca coffee interior, but I don't ever lay my key down in the cabin, so I never felt i had to match a case or cover against the interior color, yet the one I purchased a few posts above does match my exterior which is Arctic Grey with blue M Sport brakes and additional carbon fiber accessories. I can also spot it immediately if it were on a countertop among other fobs.

it has served me well and fits my particular needs. while bulkier than a naked fob, it has TPU impact protection and still fits in my pants front coin pocket. I can press the buttons without taking it out of my pocket. I can remove the internal key without taking off the case. faux carbon fiber looks ok but doesn't impede signal range.

it really depends on how you store and plan to use it, so it might take a couple trial and errors. all the cases will add bulk to the original key fob though there are slim ones but those won't protect from impacts, just surface scratches. real carbon fiber ones are slim but may affect signal range. some require hardware to assemble onto the fob. many don't allow access to the internal key without having to completely remove the case or cover.

Thanks! It does look good but bulkiness is a concern. Might go for something else then.

Rarely take it out of pocket but do think it'd be nice if it can be colour matched. Not an M sport trim and not a big of carbon fibre (thankfully - they're expensive!) so I'll consider leather. Good you found matching colours!

I ordered one of these (for my coffeee interior) and just got it yesterday - didn't even think that they were going to be different colours until I put them next to each other. Pays to read the colour properly

I also got the M Performance one so I'll see if i want to change after a while - it's currently holding my spare key.

I did notice this morning that the car didn't auto lock as I walked away so maybe it is blocking it but I'm not sure. The auto lock/unlock seems a bit inconsistent - sometimes works from far away and sometimes I can walk right up to the car and almost grab the handle before it works. Also seems to be affected by the approach direction.

It is obviously bulkier than some of the other covers shown here but I do like the fact it covers the buttons from accidental pressing. I've had times in the past with previous keys that have opened the boot because of something else in the pocket pressing the key - not something you want in a tight parking spot

hmmmm, two reports of the same issue with the same cover would likely indicate it's blocking the signal. with my case, my auto lock/unlock have been reliable no matter from which direction I leave or approach, so much so that sometimes I think it's too sensitive but it's really just me walking near the car too much. lol

interested to hear a report back after using the M Sport cover (it looks so nice, though!)

are you sure that there are no other electronic devices in the same pocket as your key fob? that could cause interference.

also, the vehicle 'hibernates' if you havent driven it in a couple of days and the proximity sensors stop working if you leave it alone for that long...

If I stick my phone in the pocket with the fob, sometimes it interferes with the fob operation.

I've been using this one for a couple months. Working well. Wish it had slightly less bulk.
