So now every time I start the car I have to go to Media and select Presets to be able to scroll through my radio/nav stations. However, on next restart it will switch to regular Nav or Radio depending which I was on when I shut if off last. Anyone had this? I can't find and "default to presets" setting.

We're all annoyed by that. Stupid implementation. Setting one of the shortcut buttons to Presets helps.

I've had the car since Dec, and it hasn't done that until this week. What caused it? Software update?

And I thought it was me, not the software. Even when deleting the XM (and checking the presets) in preferences, it still reverted to all XM as default.
I'll try to devote one of the programed buttons.

Pretty sure we all have the problem. Very annoying. Hopeful that it will get addressed in a future update but I'm not holding my breath.

Since there is no OTA s/w updates yet in North America, only you know if you've recently had a software update (or possibly only your service department if they didn't tell you). In my case, I've been on 3/2019.45 since pickup 4 weeks ago and the issue exists on that version for sure, previously discussed in a couple of other thread on the forum. If we find it is version-specific, then it will be another nail in the "BMW software teams don't know about regression testing" coffin.

Mine does not go back to anything other than what was left. If I'm on presets turn off come back the next day or from going inside store it is still at my presets. Still playing the same station. Are you all saying this does not happen? That is strange to me

Say I have sirius station 002 in my presets between 95.9 fm and 96.9 fm , if i shut down after going to 002 from the presets, and I restart the car later, it will still be on 002, but if i click to go to the next station on the steering wheel, it will go to sirius station 003 instead of 96.9 fm.

This is because on startup, the car will no longer be in the presets "mode" but rather on satellite radio "mode".

This may not apply since I'm referring to an F chassis/model...but if I'm in presets and want to go to the next preset station...I have to use the scroll button (#6 in pic below) on the right steering wheel button pod, not the "+" or "-" (#2 & #3) steering wheel MFL buttons. If I use either the +/- MFL button, it will change to the next station on the band I'm listening to. Again, to go to the next or prior PRESET station...I have to use the scroll button.

This allows for multiple situations. I can scroll through the presets (using button #6) or I can choose to select another station on the radio band I'm listening to...instead of having to go back into iDrive.

Do you guys not have the scroll button or something similar on your G05s?

It used to work the 'proper way' on 2018.11 and other early builds. it changed to this new default when I was upgraded to 2019.37. Just baffling.

We do have a scroll wheel, but we also have left and right arrows to go to the next track/preset/station.

If you use the scroll wheel, the same issue occurs where you are no longer in your presets, but rather are in the last used type of radio used when you turned the car off.

Same issue happening here.... just started a week or so ago, which is weird... but then not given the pile of shit that BMW's iDrive 7 is. Nothing surprises me any more.

Sounds more like a software downgrade. I just can't understand why so many are having these issues. Today you have the feature, tomorrow you don't, Johnny's feature works but Susan's doesn't, the doors stopped locking and unlocking automatically, the Park Distance Control stopped sounding alerts but only in one direction...driving me nutz just reading all this.
I really feel bad for you owners, you bought the car in good faith and are now stuck with having to deal with these issues...and I want one but am holding off due to all I've been reading.

I just got my car back from having the update to .48 and it also does not go back to presets. I am missing my 2015 X5 more everyday - it may not have been as technologically sophisticated but it just seemed that everything seemed to operate so much more logically.

I'm having the same issue with my '19 330xi and stumbled onto this thread when looking for a solution. I've since contacted the BMW Geniuses about it, hoping that the bug report/feature request will make its way to the appropriate people. This was the response:

The behavior you have reported is a current function of iDrive 7.0. The vehicle's radio will start in the native source, but is unable to start in presets. We regret any frustration this may cause. As you've mentioned, to circumvent this behavior, we advise saving the presets to the programmable memory buttons for easy access:

- "MEDIA"
- "Radio"
- Highlight, but do not click "Presets"
- Press and hold a programmable memory button until an auditory signal sounds.

I thank you for the time taken to share your discovery. I have documented your feedback to be presented to the appropriate internal teams. Customer feedback plays an integral role in improving product design and development.

Just got my X5 back and tested it today. If I am on say Sirius 002 and my preset which is 045 it works fine from the wheel.

I enter the car, start it is play 002 my next station in order on my presets is 045, so when I press next it goes to 045 than 047 and so forth. No issues with it going to anything else. My software was just updated to 03-2019-48.

I take it you are saying if in my presets I have that radio station to test then?
