Anyone else's Waze no longer working correctly upon startup?

This started as of yesterday. When ever I would start the car and go to car play, it would automatically have Waze open (as last app that was running). Map would be open and all would be fine. As of yesterday, all of the above is true, except I get a blank white map (all of the other Waze components of the app work - ie speed, user interface, etc... just the map is completely white). Only way to fix it is to go into my phone and close the app and re-open it, and it starts up correctly again. Not sure if there was an update it CarPlay, Waze or both which is now causing the issue?

Anyone else experiencing this?

This happened to me yesterday on my 2019 G01 (M40i), but has not happened on my 2020 G05. Curious to know as well why this is happening.

I've got a 2020 M5 - this happens to me about half the time. The easiest quick fix for me is to bring up WAZE on my phone, turn the app off via swiping up on it, and then selecting WAZE on Carplay. It's a pain, but it gets it reset.

We also have a 2019 X5 - I drive it less (wife's car), but it happens there too.

Yes it doing to me as well. Have to shut down down Waze using phone and start it again!

I don't get what's different now? It was working fine for 3 months??? Did this all start for folks recently ... or has it been like this for a while for others?

I think it's IOS 13.3 that's the problem.

I'm an x7 owner and I have the same problem, blank screens often. It's been so frequent that I switched to using Google Maps (not Apple) and I'm starting to like it more. Its accurate and reliable. When Waze works I start it and leave it running in the background to get the police alerts.

There are also complaints in the x7 forum and here in the Waze forum about the same problem.

For anyone interested ... looks like mike is now working. I did a hard reset of my iPhone (11 Pro Max), while also conducting a hard iDrive reset (holding the radio dial in for ~30 seconds) while the car was not running. Have been in and out of the car about 3 times now, and Waze is now working as it should. Hope this helps anyone in a similar boat.

Give it a while - it'll happen again. I've done the same, works ok for a while, and then it happens again.

While it’s easy to blame BMW for the glitches, more than likely it’s the peripheral technologies that are the culprit, ie Apple, Google, etc. They make changes to their OS without regard or testing how it impacts other users. Just say’in.

Unfortunately its happening on my 2018 X5 as well. I have the same phone as you and coincidentally did the same things. Still happens on X5 and happens on our M850i

Sounds like it's a software and phone issue and not BMW related. I have the same problem and it's occurred in my E70, my wife's car, and most recently, my rental. I thought it was just me. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the program to see if that would work.

New version of iOS Waze came out yesterday, not used it much but worth others trying this out. So far I have only used it once since the update so 1/1 isn't a good validation ratio.

posted this elsewhere, but not sure if anyone is using the iPhone 11...I have a few friends who are experiencing some of these issues.

EDIT: I know some people using the 13.3.1 beta said some issues were ironed out. It seems like Apple and the app devs are not on the same page with iOS 13...some of the changes they're making has hampered the devs in delivering a polished product.

martinf79 they just released the third Public Beta for 13.3.1, so hopefully this can iron on these kinks. It's a shame, since my Xs was garbage and constantly disconnected & acted up. The 11 Pro Max has been flawless until recently...nothing wrong with the phone, just blaming it on software! It's an incredible phone...love going almost 2 days on a single charge.
