Windows rolling up slow. Is it the acoustic glass??
Has anyone noticed that the windows on the X5 roll up slow? I have acoustic glas so not sure if that is causing them to be heavier. I feel like the 5 series windows roll up faster and that does not have acoustic glass. Would love to hear some thoughts. Maybe I just need to go to the dealership and compare to car without acoustic glass

my understanding, all previous generation of X5s were slow as well. we have acoustic glass on ours and its slower than normal cars, but we rarely roll down our windows so it doesnt bother us too much.

It just makes X5 more luxurious. I bet there was one guy in BMW who at least once thought to sell this as an option aka “luxurious windows” - $500.
I also have this feeling that it’s slower then I ever seen. But I like it, it’s somehow more “satisfying”? And I like it’s free |

I was told by an installer that the acoustic glass was no heavier or thicker, just had a different layup. Not sure how they would accomplish the acoustic abatement, but I’m sure there is some sandwich magic there. Sound-screen

I've noticed the same, not only on the G05 but also on the 7er LCI.

I have never seen an explanation of why they are slow other than that is how they are designed.

Acoustic glass has nothing to do with the speed of the window motors. The speed of the windows going up and down are the same no matter what glass is in the door.

Not only are the windows slow, but the steering wheel retraction is even slower.
If you’re in a rush to leave, forget about it while your steering wheel takes its sweet time getting ready. I hate it and want an option to turn off the steering wheel retraction completely if I could. All the motors are slow. |

have you thought about setting seat memory #2 with the steering wheel retracted? that way, if you press 2 right after putting the gear in PARK, the wheel will start to retract well before you open the door to exit. • entering the vehicle I can't think of a way to get the steering wheel in the telescoped and ready position any faster than it already does. For me, I don't find myself sitting there waiting for it to get into position before driving off, though. |

Really? Sure sounds like my windows go up or down much faster than yours do. Certainly does not sound as if the speed is the same but honestly I don't really care, my pedestrian, non acoustic, windows work just fine.

Definitely. If you read this and other threads people with and without acoustic glass mention the speed of closure, there is no difference between the two.
