Bye Bye!

Thankfully, I am saying goodbye to this forum, nothing to do with the people, all to do with the car!

Had an awful experience with the car, having so many faults in such a short space of time is just unacceptable to me.

Dick Lovett Bristol had the car for over 8 weeks and couldn't find a fault or rectify it, despite having video evidence to prove it was randomly happening. The suspension wouldn't adjust at any speed, and all of the buttons on the control panel surrounding device modes and suspension, wouldn't work, lost auto hold, and start/stop. But no fault and apparently all ok, despite it happening several times to us.

Steering wheel won't extend or retract, but goes up or down, no fault found. Same thing happens on their courtesy car...

Tailgate randomly will work correctly or not, whenever it feels like it, courtesy car does the same.

Bluetooth connectivity was random.

Laser light control unit failed.

Wireless charger needed to be replaced.

Creaking suspension upon lowering to access mode - acceptable on an £80k car!

Rear seats getting stuck mid-travel after accessing 3rd row, resulting in them being stuck top in the air.

There was more but enough is enough.

We cam from a Range Rover Sport as it had similar electrical/gadget related issues, hoping the BMW would be a good compromise, as it drove well, and whilst not what we wanted, it would be ok, reliable, economical, comfortable etc.

I'm back to Range Rover now, as if the car is going to have problems anyway, I amy as well like the thing.

Hope you all have better luck than me with these X5's!

Any UK owners interested, I have a set of genuine, unopened M Sport gloss black shadow line tailpipes for sale.

I'd think you have the equivalent of a lemon law there.

I would pursue the lemon law there...sucks if you get hosed on the car. However, if you're like me, even if they fix the car...you will still hate it! Either way, don't give them the satisfaction of screwing you over!

Precisely why I have not yet bought one, was hoping that in time, BMW would come to grips with the issues. When was your X5 built?

Each state has its own lemon law. In general, they spell out the procedures that need to be followed to have a vehicle repaired/returned during a certain period of time.

Garage List
2018 Audi RS5  [0.00]
My 2019 X5 40i is about to be lemon’d
Antenna on roof leaks, spent 31 days in the shop waiting for parts
Got it back and had the same exact issue again 2 days later
Another water leak
Not sure if I’ll reorder a 2020 or get an Audi Q7/Q8
Depends on the offer they give me for the leaky X5
