On first seeing the Tesla I had the thought the rear section might have been designed to break apart in a side impact, thinking it would be the luggage compartment.
Then I realised the rear part that had broken off contained two seats...

I'm not in the market for a Tesla, but this would stop me ever considering one.

GTR hit the passenger side of the Tesla ?
If GTR is 4K pounds and maybe accelerating...u don’t think the Tesla held up pretty well ?

It seems like the only reason the gtr driver is still alive is because the Tesla split in half. The impact on the GTR had to be much less because of that. I don't know if the Tesla splitting is intentional or not, but I think everyone would have died if it didn't.

There are no passengers in the car in the shots. Which means the way the car looks might be after the paramedics have gone through the car with a “jaws of life” to extricate passengers.

Don’t believe everything your eyes tell you in these after-the-fact accident videos and photos. The Jaws of Life can make mincemeat out of even the most hardened steel.

Everyone walked out of their cars fine, the police and paramedics just got to the scene when this video was taken.

I have cut apart cars with Hurst tools / Jaws of Life and the separation of the rear most passenger cell would not really make sense for occupant extrication purposes. The display on the Tesla also has power (flickering) and the electrics would have disabled prior to cutting. This looks all like physics at work.

Wow hope everyone is OK.

But few things.

Sorry Florida but.

What's up with Florida residents. Why do people have their shirts off? Ready to throw down brah?

Got annoyed hearing 100 mph on repeat.

Gtr driver looks like a douche.

Why is miss America holding Gtr drivers underwear?

yes normally you hear about car safety concepts like a safety cage and such, but this looked like it pretty easily (too easy) broke away.
But on the model S the 3rd row looked completely unsafe to me, how close kids heads are located near the rear windscreen:

These seats always looked like an afterthought to me.

I think if you're shopping for a 3 row seat car, you can better choose one with a proper 3rd row instead of kiddy seats safety wise.
