hood latch issue

Hello all,
New member here. We re very excited to have a new G05, 40i M Sport and this forum has been an outstanding source of information and opinions on the configurations we picked etc. One question in case it has happened to others - We've had it for about 3 months now, but I just happened to open the engine bay the day before to check on washer fluid. I noticed after closing back the hood, that only one side (it has two latches - left/right) will latch all the way down. Tried again and again and nothing changed. I am thinking there is something off with the actual locking mechanism on one side. The other is fine. As a result on the bad side, hood sits wee bit higher. I played with the adjustable rubber screw-in spacers in the front, but that doesnt help.
Happened before to anyone?
Thanks!

Mine hasn't failed to latch, but it does take quite a bit of force to latch it - i.e., slam vigorously from wide open. More than any car I've owned.

I have a 20' M50i and I'd had the dealer adjust both the rubber pads and the locking mechanism twice. Not sure what is causing it, but it does get a little annoying.

It sounds like a simple fix - perhaps one latch is not in the "ready" position. Check the positioning of both latches to see if they're the same. If they are, visit the dealer if not, get a screwdriver and flip the latch up - happened to me a couple of times.

Same thing here on my new X5. Passenger side.

2 things:

I noticed both the actual latch loops on the inside of the hood are a little loose/wobbly...didn't see how to tighten them so that may be normal?

I screwed in the black rubber grommet on the passenger side a little and it closed fine after.

On the latch loops i'll have the dealer look at them next visit.

Thank you all, on mine the problem was on the passenger side too. Sounds like a visit to the dealer.

I know for mine I have to use an uncomfortable amount of force to get it to close. One time I even had to pushed down on the hood at the latch locations for it to catch fully. Made me uncomfortable because I didn't want to scratch the hood or dent it by using too much force.

The G05 doesn't allow a quick "drop" to close the hood. I've noticed that when I've done that, one side latches, and one doesn't.

Now..... I close gently, and give a firm 2-handed press, with each hand about on the outboard sides of the grill. That seems to work well.

If it still doesn't latch, then yea..... dealer visit

Same thing just happen to me. Opened hood and passenger side would not close all the way. Took it to the dealer they made some adjustments with the rubber stops and told me I need press harder on the hood. Don't like slamming or pressing hard on the hood. Guess we have no choice.

Exact same issue on a 2-day old X5. Also on the passenger side. Sales agent recommended using more force when closing - a lot of force - which worked.

Does nobody ever read the manual?! On my copy, page 386, but may vary slightly.

It says when closing the hood, close energetically from approximately 20". you won't hurt it.

Good stuff. Thank you for providing a documented answer.

I've had the same issue since purchasing the car two months ago, and energetically, or just throwing the hood down like a dribbling a basketball, works. Nothing else works.

Lol thanks. I’ve been experiencing this issue as well on the passenger side
