Had first safety system actually activate yesterday!
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Although one thing that made me a little nervous was I was on active cruise control (just distance control) and a car in front started to slow down VERY rapidly. The X5 beeped a couple times, turned off the cruise control but didn't seem to auto-brake at all. I got no red warning in HUD or on the dashboard. Luckily I braked in time, but the car didn't seem to be doing anything to help prevent a collision except beep at me.

I'm thinking maybe ACC will only decelerate so quickly (so gave up and handed control to you), and maybe you just didn't get close enough for the automatic panic stop to activate?

That's possible. Not sure.

From my experience and im talking about my F86 the auto-braking only applies if the car notices that you are NOT paying attention OR you do not have cruise control on
