What color ambient lighting is everyone using?

It is the orange, seems to show up as red in the pic

You can dim it for nighttime driving in idrive settings.

that is so cool, its beyond infuriating that bmw wouldn't just include these color options from the factory osd itself. makes 0 sense.

I thought this at first too. Now its my favorite color. Its soothing at night, and I wanted a contrast between the center console panel lit up in orange, so I couldn't use orange. I also like the peach color, but my current favorite is lilac.

Not currently aware of that, even with coding custom colors, the options on the head unit textually / visually remain the same. You can change a color preset to be what you want but there isn't much else to change.

It would be nice if someone made an API and loader to allow custom apps that could enhance things like the ambient lighting. I’ve said it before: bmw makes great cars but not great software.

Hell is going to freeze over before BMW gets to that, but ... perhaps Bimmercode could give us something? An API and repository for plugins with community review ratings for Expert Mode? Programmatic/scripted Cheat Code Files for Bimmercode?

Just a quick question, is it just me that it seems the ambient lighting is on all the time even in broad daylight, cannot remember if it was the same for my F15

Yes it's on 100% of the time. There's a setting in iDrive where it will auto-dim the ambient light when it's dark outside.

Thanks. That's interesting, I used to assume it operates in conjunction with the headlight, otherwise you won't notice it.

I think the "Dim" setting is too dim. you can barely see any of the lighting. I wish they had levels of dimness.
