2024 Leather Alternatives / Synthetics
Why does BMW offer Sensatec, Veganza, and Sensafin as base leather alternatives across various models? There seems to be no rhyme, no reason for all 3 types of synthetics. They use Veganza in a base X1 and then all the way up to the flagship 7 series for example. Sensatec seems outdated but it’s in a bunch of the 2024 sedans. And why the switch from Veganza to Sensafin in the SUVs once you get to X5 and above? Would it not make more sense to pick one type of synthetic leather and stick with it?

I've pondered the same thing.
What I absolutely don't understand is why the iX gets Sensatec, while the X5 gets Sensafin (which is orders of magnitude better). Yet, in most cases, the iX has a higher MSRP than the X5. I'm a big fan of the Sensafin, but I won't get Sensatec. |

Yeah, Sensatec kinda sucks and I have never seen or heard of Veganza which sounds like the name of a disease. Sensafin seems like a great hide or doctored up hide product alternative.

Different materials and price points. Makes sense from a marketing point for product placement and differentiation.

Just different material or seat design for different model, right? Very normal practice. And it is just names bmw given to the material. They could have call it vegan leather and be done with it.
