Rain rain go away!

Looking for paint care tips for your parked car covered in rain. Wipe it off, let it be? Would single water drops be damaging to the paint vs a streak from wiping rain off with a towel for example? Is a garage without airflow better than leaving outside? Take care of windows differently than body panels? Any and all best practices welcome!

Let it be.
You can apply wax, sealant or a coating after your next carwash to help repel rain water. Using a towel to wipe off any standing water could potentially scratch your paint if your car was dirty.

Get your car ceramic coated, then just use a leaf blower to blow the water off the car after you pull it into the garage if it bothers you that much. Then wash the car whenever the next opportunity arises.

I wouldn’t go wiping the rain water off the car unless the car had just been washed, otherwise you’ll just be pushing dirt/dust around on the paint along with the water.

It is a car, design to be outside and take on elements just like any other cars you have before. BMW is NOT fragile. So however you take care of your car before, it will work the same way with this car.

If you have an indoor garage, then you can use a silicon squeegee when you pull your car in.

I use the Hydroglide 14" Waterblade Silicone Y-Bar Squeegee (https://www.amazon.com/One-Pass-Hydr...ps%2C73&sr=8-5).

It does not scratch the surfaces and help me get rid of the water quickly. I use it after I wash the car as well to quickly dry it.

But the most important part is to have some sort of protective and hydrophobic coating. You can coat it with a ceramic coating or I use Turtle Wax Ceramic Spray Coating after every wash that gives a great shine and since it is hydrophobic, it also helps with the water beading.

+1 for the ceramic coating! I can vouch for that living in Love Bug country
