50e Order Concerns

Does anyone have any idea what percentage of 2024 50e are having the drivetrain problem? I've got a 50e on order but am getting concerned about this issue. Also, once they fix the issue at the dealer how many people are having the problem show up again?

What is this drivetrain problem you speak of?

On some of the other posts a lot of people are complaining about an error being displayed called Drivetrain.

Taking out the forum bias, we are seeing about 45% getting errors (CEL, drivetrain, battery, etc.) and 30% going to dealers.

And PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong, but with the high volt system error and/or drive train error, other than some software updates some times, and some spending weeks at the dealer, there has been no mechanical/electrical defect found or part that needed to be replaced.

The CEL light issues are all over the place and many have resulted in mechanical repairs.

Within 50 miles, I got the high voltage system/drivetrain error message (which said I could continue to drive normally) which I've closed out and in 1000 miles, it has not returned. 🤞

As far as I know, that is not correct. There have been mechanical repairs done for all three major issues (CEL, Drivetrain and charging).

Yep. Mine required a BMU in addition to multiple software updates and reprogramming.

Sounds like I have a 50/50 chance of getting a bad 50 e. Could the 50e build delay be fixing these problems?

There is no build delay, that was a misunderstanding of the situation. 50e's are still being built but capacity seems to be mainly for priority 3 (dealer stock), Individual paints and some replacements for those damaged in Idalia.

I think if you are concern about the 50e, you get the 40i and piece of mind that brings. Revisit the PHEV in a few years when all of this is worked out. i'm on a lease so I'm revisiting in 3 years no matter what.

I really wish i didnt find all these threads on this issue. My wife and i have been car shopping for her for the past 2months and test drove the 2024 x5 50e phev and fell in love and placed our order two weeks ago and just discovered these CEL threads this week and now i have a sick feeling in my stomach lol. Delivery date is expected for March/April time frame. Im not sharing this info with my wife... ignorance is bliss right!?

I had the first batch of the 2021 Ford F150 hybrid (powerboost) truck and i love that truck when it works but it has been plagued with issues saddley and has been a massive pain. The truck spent 3 months in the shop its first year of ownership and when i started looking at the lemon law process i was 2 weeks past the first year of ownership. Ford bumped my full factory warranty to 100k miles for my pain and suffer. i just hope we dont have a repeat case of this because i've lost faith in my truck from a reliability standpoint and that is a shitty feeling to have in your vehicle that you could be left stranded at anytime or anyplace.

From what i've been reading for those who run into the CEL problems for the majority of the cases once the problem is fixed no one is having the same problem return, is that correct?

Unfortunately, that is not correct. I’ve been in four times already, as have others.

Now add this to your issues:

40i options appear to be especially limited at this time.
