Jumped ship from an 2022 X3m40i, absolutely the best bang for your buck performance suv IMO. Local dealer had a 2024 Skyscraper Grey Metallic on the lot with the exact specs I would have ordered so I took it. It was an arduous process negotiating but I got them down to where I wanted the OTD price to be along with BMWFS March financing offer.
Just finished up 2day paint correction/ceramic coating so no pics yet. Unfortunately, they ran the vehicle through an automatic car wash prior to me even looking at it so the paint was trashed along with the 22" gloss black rims.
I've always loved X5s but the LCI had me shopping, I am happy I made the switch...not young anymore.
The forums are great and I'm fortunate to be staying BMW, for now... 😉

It's just something about those rims with red calipers on white, black or grey X5's. Lord!

Thank you everyone. Very impressed with the new X5. Wife said it's not "as obnoxious" as the X3m40i, which I agree. Smooth and classy. I have no regrets. Great vehicle all around and I still have the B58.

Your wife is spot on. I’m sure she appreciates the little bit more shoulder room, higher ride height, more comfortable seats, better suspension, quieter exhaust, smoother etc etc

While I haven’t had any significant seat time in the X5 yet I think there is the potential of me ordering (inc. paint to spec) X5M60 for me and transferring the 40i to the GF. She loves her 2015 Rav4 and it’s great for transporting the grandkids I just hate seeing that thing in my driveway (I haven’t told her that though). lol if the 40i gets the mileage they say it does it would work well for her and I won’t have to drive a white Rav4 anymore. Yea!

Good plan! My 40i gets great highway miles, terrible city. On a mixed trip, I average about 23mpg. Highway it shows 29mpg, but city can be really bad like 13mpg. 91 octane fuel.

I'm averaging 24.4mpg in my x6 40i in LA traffic. I think it's outstanding, my prior Ford focus st got around 21. It did encourage hooliganism more, though.

I’m curious… with the X3 m40i being about 400lbs lighter than the X5, is the 382hp/369tq noticeably faster than the torquier 375hp/398tq in the LCI?

I had the brand new X3 30i for a loaner for a week during a recall repair and I wasn’t a fan… slower, harsher ride, more road noise, less refined, drivetrain vibrations could be felt, brake petal too sensitive. And once you go Idrive8 you don’t want to go back. My wife's daily driver NX350 is a much better ride overall except the B48 engine is a tad smoother and more efficient compared to the Lexus T24.

I had both a 2019 and a 2022 X3m40i. The 22 was noticeably faster than the 2019 but without the "farts and pops" of the exhaust. The 24 X5 isn't as aggressive and is much smoother (transmission), roomier and more comfortable overall. .

I sold a M-B E450 A/T Wagon (my first and most likely last M-B, no issues whatsoever though) after I placed the X5 on order. One thing that really impressed me with the MB was the mileage. I made frequent trips to NC and even though I typically drove 80-85 mph with a few bursts over 100 that thing consistently got 26-27 mpg, and I always check my mileage by miles driven divided by gallons use so no chance of the computer lying to me. I was amazed at how well that I-6 performed and how well it did on gas! I’m hoping the X5 does just as well. I don’t believe I ever checked the around town mileage but judging by the miles I could go between fillups it wasn’t far off from my highway mileage.
The car before the E450 was a 2018 Macan GTS and mileage with it was 19-20 driving the same trip and same speeds. (3.0 V6)

Nice change, lovely motor! In an X3M that's coming up 3 years old, had since new. With 2 kids, the move to an X5 is inevitable.
