Can the 12V outlets be turned off when the engine is not running? I have a 12 V cooler that I plug into a 12 V outlet when we go on trips. I see that it does not turn off when the ignition is off and the car is locked. I know that at some point I will forget to unplug the cooler and have a dead battery when I come back to the car.

I haven't tested the rear ports, but the port up front shuts off when the car goes to sleep - so about 10-15 minutes after you shut down and leave the car. Are you sure they don't shut off?

To test it, use an accessory that has an indicator or display that remains lit when power is applied. You want to be able to check it from outside the vehicle so as to not wake the car up (which restores power to the port.).

You are correct. It does go off after awhile. That will work for me.

note there are reports of the vehicle randomly staying on and not going into standby after ~15 minutes like it should. it’s always recommended to unplug devices when not in use

that said, I keep my dash cam plugged in at all times because I’m OCD when it comes to exiting and can reliably trust my vehicle goes into standby
