Not sure if you're referencing the comment I made, I purchased mine from amazon last time, not any seller on here.

Glad to see my bad influence is spending your money. Its a sickness.

Seriously, they are total BA with the welcome carpet light and door handle lights. Best exterior/interior OEM lighting in the business.

They're all over amazon and I've bought them for my previous 2016 X5M...they worked fine and fit nicely on the 2016...bought some for the new 2019 X5 and could not really fit them in easily needs a lot of pushing so I kept the stock lights in place till I got the OEM ones yesterday

Mine came in and I’ve got to say that the “X” projection was a huge disappointment, plus it was hard to get the orientation correct...did not look good at all. Not even photo worthy. For now, I just popped the stock ones back in since they’re better and way brighter than the X.

I’ll play around with the others but am not hopeful that any will look as good as the “M” (which also happens to be my initials right-side-up and upside-down) that I’ve had in loved in my 2 previous cars.

OEM?
Absolutely yes, I would never use non OEM electronic parts.

I'll try some of the other ones but the X was not a good one. It sounded like it was the best choice for me this time, but "next"

Try the BMW logo. With blue and white, it should pop more.

I got OEM from the dealership for mine but it's not a simple plug in. When I went back to the dealer, they want me to cut the opening a little wider? Or if they do it, they will charge me $70!
I can remove and place the factory door light without any problem but these darn ones won't go in. I am aware about the R and L

They do snap in rather tight. You could file down the opening a bit making the hole a fraction longer but you would be better filling down the plastic clip on the light itself if it’s that tight. They do fit. I just smacked mine in once I had the lens adjustment right. No issues.

Factory part number 63 31 2 414 105

It is the same part number 63 31 2 414 105 but interestingly on the box, I can see a different part number behind the sticker. And that has been discontinued or rebranded as the 105 part number. I am also having trouble adjusting the lens. But thank you for the advice I'll try filing the light

Adjusting the lens so it’s strait is a bit “trial and error” as you go.

Wondering if BMW will in fact release a new part that fits in more easily.

Mine fit really tight in the driver's side door and really made me work at it but the passenger side door popped right in, almost as easily as the original ones that came in it. I think a piece of the vinyl on the driver's door wasn't helping.

They were also tighter than the originals when I put them in my f10 528 and my f32 435, so I'd doubt they are going to change them

I took your advice and after performing micro surgery to get the orientation perfect, I can say I like the BMW logo as much as I liked the”M’ in my last two cars. And it looks great with the light carpet.

Screw that “X” - what a let down

Thank you!

Awesome. I knew you would get it. That lens is a bit finicky to get perfect but anything less than perfect would have my ocd going nuts.

You need to post a pic of the bmw logo.

I just installed mine last weekend, "cheap Chinese aftermarket" projectors, but I would say they came out rather great. Had to modify the doors bottom trim just a bit as one end on the stock lights module was narrower than the other, and the aftermarket ones were the same width at both ends. Fairly minor in the end and I can put the stock lights back at any time.

What triggers the lights to come on? If you unlock the car with the key fob as you are approaching the car, will they illuminate? Do you find them to be more of a gimmick than anything helpful in avoiding puddles, mud, etc at night, I have not seen any, including the OEM pattern, that illuminates where you would actually step when approaching and entering the front doors. Am I wrong?

Still, they're pretty cool, I like them. The Jag F-Pace has them too but they are located on the bottom of the side view mirrors. While I like the X5 pattern and brightness better, the Jag's is in a better position. Can you aim them elsewhere or are they in a fixed position?

Depends if you're asking about the light carpet lights (the lines) or the door projector lights (the ///M in my and other pics).

The carpet lights are some fancy sophisticated thingy built into the lower part of the car in front of the front doors. From my reading about the technology, those would be very difficult to modify. In well-lit urban environments, they are just a bling gimmick. In dark rural/country environments, they work really well as you walk up to the car with, I guess, comfort access option and a key fob in hand or in pocket.

The ///M is an after market door projector replacement module for the just flat diffused white lights built into the bottom of the door. They come on when you open the respective door. As such, they are definitely just bling in any environment and have no real viable functional purpose.
