How to Reset Trip Odometer

Had our X5 for 4 days. Still learning all the bells and whistles. Am I missing something or is there a button to reset the trip odometer?

On all previous BMWs there was a button on the instrument cluster to reset the trip odometer. I don't see one on the G05. In fact I don't even see the odometer at all.

Help me out. Thanks.

Car>driving information>trip data>data since then pick a setting.

I also think I that if the consumption screen is up in the screen in front of you and you hold the BC button at the end of the stalk it'll reset, but I got 2 new "computers on wheels" within a week and may be confused. The first one will work though.

*just checked. And if the widget for the trip data is displayed you can press and hold the button on the turn signal (which happens to be the voice recognition on my other new car, no wonder I'm confused )

Thanks. I was sitting in the vehicle playing with the entertainment features and noticed the odometer was on the instrument panel. First time I had seen it. Ignition was on but engine was not running. I now see how to reset the trip odometer, avg speed and mileage.

Nope, tried it. I can't even find the odometer reading much less how to set a trip meter. I hope there's a button rather than having to use an on screen setting.

Did you try rebooting iDrive by holding down the volume button for about 20 seconds until the iDrive screen goes black? That will reboot iDrive and may fix your issues.

You're not doing it correctly. The upper button on the turn signal stalk is where you toggle thru the different settings that appear on the right side of the instrument cluster. When you get to the screen that has the odometer and the trip odometer hold that button in for a few seconds and the trip odometer will reset to zero

The buttons do not work..... I tried the volume button numerous times and nothing happens...
I press the Top button on the turn signal and still nothing happens. The idrive has no information when you go to that screen.
I had a 50i before this that got lemoned. So I'm familiar with the car and the buttons and how they work. This issue I can't seem to fix. I can't scroll through music, it doesn't change to any option when the button was pressed. I tried the reboot 7 times with nothing.

My button does not reset either. I thought it was a function of the car, and enjoyed the trip data modes (factory, refuel, trip, etc). But will try and reset trip again tomorrow without using iDrive menu.

Maybe the individual is the only one you can reset. My default is since last fueling. I sometimes but it ik since factory to see my mean l/100 km. Maybe you should try to put it in individual in Idrive first and the reset it. When you are in since last fueling or factory probably nothing will happen.

Edit : just reviewed the manual. Individual is the only one you can reset with the top right button. Trip resets automatically after 4 hours stand still

That's exactly it. I just got back from collecting lunch and tested this. Trip data was on "Start of Trip", displayed in dashboard next to tach with approx 24 miles for me based on driving today. I held the button on the indicator stalk down and after 2-3 seconds and reset and changed to "Individual" at 0 miles. "Start of Trip" still retained 24 miles. Drove 0.2 miles on individual and tested again and worked as above.

What would be really nice is if you could cycle thru the 4 modes without using the main idrive screen (e.g. a wheel or arrow on steering wheel).
