You're gonna need a flame suit with that badging.

Why don't you just do this, then everyone will think and there will be no doubt you are driving an actual "M" and make yourself feel better..

He he, I asked this on purpose. While I wouldn't put an M badge on the rear, its fun to see people get so offended over this.
Its just a sticker on a non exotic mass produced SUV that I can buy in America for Toyota Camry money...

BMW decides what they consider M worthy. If they consider it an "M car" from the factory, I don't see a reason to get offended. If someone is purposely removing a "40i" that does not have an "M varaint" and adding an M to "fool" people, I would consider that laughable. There is someone who did this and put an "X5M" in one of the threads. This is just ridiculous. He was "blocking" people because he thought they care about being blocked for calling him out.

I have two thoughts for these people:

1. The people who know enough to distinguish whether you have an M car or not will know what you have, even if someone puts a fake badge on it.

2. The people who don't know or don't care will not be able to tell a difference between the base 40i and an X5M so they are not being fooled anyway because all X5s look the same to them.

Geez.. I am not offended, why are you so uptight about this. I just don't see the point. If you are looking for a fight and start crap go somewhere else. Go ahead put the badges on. Maybe it will add some horsepower LOL

I do the same ... all model badges get removed immediately after delivery. Looks sleek, and I don't care to advertise what trim I bought. I have always done the same, whether it was a "real" ///M, or a "fake" ///M-sport trim level vehicle.

I wish BMW offered the model designation delete option on Priority 1 orders in the USA like they do in other markets ... would save me about 30 minutes of time removing the emblems and waxing the area to get rid of the residue post-delivery

Not sure why so many add emblems! i'll never understand

In Europe indeed it is an option to order the debaged version.

I have a feeling that discussing M badges is like religion and politics. Don't go there and don't start a discussion because it wil always end in some kind of endless who is wrong or right discussion.

The holy M.

i'm having fun placing a proverbial log on the fire and sitting back with my popcorn and watching the comments come in.

Not really trying to say one is right or wrong ... just pointing out the whoring of the letter ///M by BMW.

hahahahah love this M badge discussion! Extremely funny way to start this 2021!

I think whoever got the M engine and design should be proud of that M badge, but I understand how other people would remove it as they do not need to show off. At the end of the day, it is all about branding and being even more inclusive inside the BMW family.

I got a X5 45e M package and there is no M reference in the outside (US version), while the European one has the M logo in the charging socket and the front grill. You can see today's pic for the European version on the post "Random X5 (G05) shot of the day..." by Sqz

That is the literal dictionary definition of "trolling" — a highly community-destructive social media behaviour. It earned you a permanent forum ignore from me on another thread earlier today. Don't bother responding to me, I won't see it (except, unfortunately, in a quote by someone else). Good luck with actual worthwhile questions you might have for the forum in the future.

Finito84 it's been clarified in that thread the EU 45e doesn't come standard with M colors on the front grille. here's a screenshot of the Norwegian configurator of the 45e w/M Sport package (M badges on side fenders, but no M colors on the front grille.) it's the same look if configured with the M Model package as well. that was a mod on Sqz car.

Seems ironic that the Euro models have a more "M" stickers than the US models. My experience living in Germany for 3 years is many Germans debadge their cars and not just BMWs. That said, I had several friends who shipped their VW Rabbits over and within a couple weeks the Rabbit badges were stolen off their cars. I believe the Canadian M Sport X5s also have small M badges on the front fenders.

Never thought I would be jealous of Canada but wish my new US M50i came with the side M Badges as standard.

Is there an X5 M40i sold anywhere in the world? Just curious if you're badging based on a version with badging that exists in other markets. But I think the M logo looks cool. May be just get the M40i from the X3!
