That is a European option, not available in the US. They have a different hitch.

I wouldn't think so, there is no button for the X7.

I have one in 3-series LCI, that has the same dashboard and similar front part of the interior. I assumed it would be the same in X7/X5/X6 LCIs.

The X7 LCI doesn’t have it, the new 7 series doesn’t have it. I’d say 99% likely it won’t have a button.

Which competitors offer a physical wheel heat button? (None) This will be going electronic to save $2/car or $100k/year.

BMW itself on i4/3-series LCI, Audi and MB, who has a the most "obvious" location - they put a heater button behind the steering wheel where the adjustment of the steering rack is, but it still a button and counts as an answer for your question.

Based on the steering wheel shape, there is no place to put a button in iX and some versions of 7/i7 and that explains why there is a setting in iDrive now.

However, there is still a place for a button on X7/XM as the shape and look is very similar to the steering wheel used in every other model. Why not to keep the button there?

Same with shifter - X5/X6/X7/3-series LCIs are loosing shifter in favor of a small pimp, while i4 and XM (both are brand new models) - have it. Why BMW?

I suppose you can code it to a short cut if you use it. I use the rules to turn mine on automatically, but almost always turn it off a few minutes after warming up.

Separately not a huge fan on the nub shifter (on any vehicle) - that said, like anything else it will evolve as the new normal.

I really don't think this is about saving money - they would like to upsell you features (like heated seats) and they can't add a button over-the-air :-). In several countries BMW started to do this already (your heated seats will cost you $18/month)

This isn't the case since the vehicles that have the subscription available to them have the button. Also keep in mind that the heated seats costs nothing ongoing if you get them in your build. The subscription is a great idea as it adds flexibility for owners to try new features as well as only pay for them when needed, like heated seats in the winter.

Is this an option or included within a package on the M50i/M60i? Is it going to change for the MY24 (LCI)?

The M50i comes with "normal" mirrors with no option for other mirrors. What happens with the LCI we will see next week.

My M50i just has the regular mirror caps, in cerium grey, as standard.

I believe the M60i will have the M wing mirrors, as standard. Not sure if they will come with the option to upgrade to CF.

No details have been released as far as I know. Should be Feb 7th or 8th.

Multiple websites reporting the release is now Feb 7th (not 8th as originally reported). This release will include all X5 variants correct? …..including the M60i?

Software unlock for hardware already in the car (which has cost built in to purchase price of the car, which one has already paid for) like heated seats is ABSOLUTELY unacceptable. I will not give a single dollar to a company that will do that. It makes my blood boil.

My understanding is the same, but no true M models (X5M) at this announcement as M models always lag by about a year.

Edit: Nope, I’m wrong. See Turtleboy’s correction below.

This is not the case. The X5M and X6M will follow the same production schedule as the X5 and X6.

Oh, is the year lag for fully new models?

As far as I know there is no "year lag" rule. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't. For instance, the G05 and F95 will end at the same time (11/26) and the G65 and G95 will both start production on 12/26.
