US spec (no OPF sensors or secondary cats) Stock downpipes, stock muffler with flapper valves welded open permanently.

Resonator deleted. Custom 3" double H-pipe installed, with cross sections 12" apart from one another. Cold start.

Happy with tone.. very rumbly and low
Happy with the lack of crackles and pops (I don't care for that)
Not as happy with "volume". I expected more. Barely noticeable inside the car. Zero drone whatsoever.
Noticeable 800-2000 rpms.... and at full acceleration. Otherwise, no difference in volume from stock.

Sounds great!
I am still waiting on my downpipe install since only a specific shop is willing to install it due to it not being a 100% fit, will keep you updated!

Thanks.

I would love to install a set of catless DPs and go get it re-dynotuned. I have no doubt it would be worth at least an additional 50-60 hp.... maybe more.

no can do for me though. Not sure when I'm moving back to the US. Not sure where I'm moving to... and not sure what the customs inspection will be like when attempting to re-import a car to the US. I'm just not going to risk it.

So... what DPs did you buy that make them "not an exact fit"? Assuming the bellmouth portion bolts up directly to the exhaust flange on the turbo, I can't imagine it would be a terribly difficult installation. The exhausts on our cars (unlike everything else) is surprisingly simple.

I have done two on M5/6. They aren’t hard but the heat shield is a PITA. Getting to the pipes is about 90 minutes of work then the rest is wrestling that heat shield. It is definitely a DIY project though *if* fitment with mounting brackets and bungs are on point. If not, it is a headache.

Just an FYI, downpipes add little power. The decreased back pressure lowers cylinder temps and you can run more boost and a more aggressive timing curve. That is where the power comes from.

In comfort, it sounds like stock

I'll take a few videos later on as well

Way too raspy with the 200 cell downpipes and resonator delete
Ill be going tomorrow to muffler shop to either close the exhaust valves or do H pipe set up

Sounds fine to me but that is a matter of personal taste and the sound on the vid may not have captured it exactly.
I'll be interested to see your logs with JB4 after the downpipe install as well as your SOTP evaluation of any additional power increase.

I think it needs more volume, turbo sound is cool though, you can hear it every time it spins up. The exhaust is stock but the valves stays open (pulled the fuse).

Tim I think an H or X pipe will be less raspy and improves the sound. My old F80 M3 sounds so much better after I got x pipe midpipe.

Just wondering if you have run and logged on Map 1 which is supposed to a 5lb additive vs 6lb on Map 2, not much difference but it would be an interesting comparison.

They have exactly the same downpipes. But I'm not satisfied with how mine performs, there's still noticeable smells from the exhaust. I'm working with a better company and will share with everyone once it's finished.

Yea changing the Cats out will give the exhaust a different smell. I live in Texas and put long tube headers on my 2006 Tacoma with Cat delete. it smells like crazy.

Which brand did you go with?
Mine hardly have a hint of smell and that's when I'm pushing the car

Haven't gotten a chance to log, it's been raining here last few days and weekend with the kiddos.
I'll try to get some this week, this car is raspy as hell after the downpipes, resonator delete and having the exhaust actuators open. need to get that sorted out tomorrow.

Thanks my friend, looking forward to seeing them. I haven't been able to get many break in miles on mine, should be ordering my Jb4 very soon.

We both have Fi right? Maybe because JB4 runs leaner? Mine is on stock tune as of now. I'm interested to see the logs as well.
