where did you get that info? it's not correct

when i log into the ConnectedDrive store for my MY21 45e, i get no such fee or time limit for the digital keycard. additionally, Digital Key (iPhone/Android) is included with my vehicle with no subscription fees or time limit. is yours different?

No, that is not correct. There is no fee for the key card or the digital key.

you can go into the ConnectedDrive tab for your vehicle in MyBMW website or via the MyBMW app to see all your subscription-based and non-subscription-based services

It is possible to upgrade from bmw x6 e71 key fob to digital key ?
If yes, how? (I know my car is getting old but I want that feature.
What module do i need, please help with my question guys.
I'm good in coding, programming. But I couldn't find how to upgrade my key.
I want door to automatically open when I'm close to my car.

no, you can't. your car is missing hardware. Digital Key is only supported with certain models built since July 2020. there is no add on as far as I know. plus, this is the G05 forum, not E71.

Digital Key requires hardware on the vehicle as well as enablement on the ConnectedDrive side. Your biggest obstacle will be BMW’s refusal to enable the ConnectedDrive part so the app will never work. If you just want the door to unlock on approach, that’s Comfort Access and might be able to be added via the correct modules and sensors but if it was never offered as an option on your vehicle, the software bits won’t be in the vehicle firmware so there’s nothing to enable. I’d suggest researching Comfort Access retrofit. This will give you door lock/unlock via proximity but will not affect the start/stop function.

Thank you my friend, this is what I want some retrofit, when I'm approaching to the car the door lock/unlock, I think I have to look on ebay-amazon etc......

Anyone received a car with DK function recently? I'm interested with those with production date after November 2022.

Based on the Press Release, those cars should have a UWB chip which should enable DK+ functionality - PR does not mention OS8 only, it's a general information, so I hope this will be also available for OS7.

The Digital Key Plus also enables additional functions via the My BMW app using UWB technology near vehicles with production dates from November 2022 (an Apple iPhone with iOS 16 operating system is required). The additional functions are displayed in the My BMW app as soon as you approach the vehicle to within about six 6 metres. These include the comfort open/close functions, known from the long press on open/close with the physical vehicle key, as well as the level control for vehicles with air suspension.

other reliable sources cite iDrive 8 is required in addition to the small handful of specific vehicles in which Digital Key Plus will debut which does not include MY22/MY23 X5 that come with iDrive 7.

But, I can confirm that DK on Apple Watch allows the car to start - not only open :-)

if it can open and lock doors with they digital key then you need to place whatever device you used to open the door on the NFA reader under the console. dohh I may have read that wrong but the information is still the same.

correct behavior. DK on the Apple Watch functions the same as DK on the iPhone (lock and unlock at the driver's door handle, start the vehicle while placed in the NFC tray). i used it this whole week when out and about on spring break (helped keep pockets light). i just don't like how it loads up the Guest driver profile initially, yet it's only a few steps to load mine

I read somewhere in the forum that the phone can work as the key while in your pocket (lock/unlock and start car) however I can only seem to unlock when using the phone next to the handle and start car by placing phone in the wireless charger bin. Is there a trick to bypass this so I don’t have to take the phone out of my pocket ?

That is Digital Key Plus which was not available on the X5 prior to the LCI.

as mentioned, you have the Digital Key version, but the features you’re talking about are for Digital Key Plus which is released in certain newer models

Thanks I tried it on my 2021 X7 - I assume this doesn't have the Digital key plus. I'm assuming my 2024 X5 will have it (still dont have the car).

Yes, it should be standard on the 2024 as part of Comfort Access.
