When will the X5 receive augmented reality with DAP? Is this expected with the updates this summer and idrive 8.5?

Just picked up a 2023, but really want the highway assistant and VR.

Initially thought DAP but I don't think that is correct. It may be standard. Will check on that and post if different.

So I found 2-3 videos now on YouTube. All the ones that I see the AR on the dash they all seem to have the DAP. The reason why I believe that is because all the videos that have the infrared lights showing around the dash means it has the DAP. Those are the only ones that seem to show the AR. I drove one today that didn't have DAP and it didn't have the AR option on the dash

Thanks, I guess my initial thought was correct then. The reason I doubted it is because the LCI announcement said it was part off the Live Cockpit Professional which is standard for the US.

The new Augmented View function included as part of the BMW Live Cockpit Professional enables accurate guidance while driving by supplementing the navigation system’s map view. A live video stream from the driver’s perspective can be shown on either the control or information display and augmented by supplementary graphics that provide more specific, situation-based information. When dealing with confusing junctions, for instance, an animated directional arrow is integrated into the video image to help the driver take the best turn-off for the planned route."

So I am not sure with this confusing information! lol

That is what made me think it was standard since Live Cockpit Pro is not a separate package in the US.

I believe it should be a part of Live Cockpit Pro, since when you place the order it says "Live Cockpit Pro (incl. Navi and Aug reality)" or something like that. Meaning it doesn't require dapp

All the videos I saw that had AR also had DAP. It will be a bummer if that is not standard.

Augmented Reality is not standard equipment in some markets, such as the US. The feature is dependent on option 6U3 - BMW Live Operating Area Professional rather than 5AU - Driving Assistant Professional.

Wouldn't get too hung up on augmented, I had it on my GLE, used it once and turned it off, found it confusing. BMW system may be better though.

6U3 is the Head-up Display. In the US it is available in the Premium or Executive package org as a separate option. It is standard on the M60i.

I don't think we have enough information to conclude that but it certainly can be the case. The press release referred to the BMW Live Cockpit Professional but that package does not exist for the US. It could be they are using the Heads-up display as a substitute for that.

In my opinion every vehicle should be ordered with at least the Premium package and DAP, as well as a few others, so you should be covered either way. In general I see little value in an augmented reality navigation feature but have not looked specifically at BMW's to see if it is different and adds more value.
