I got this update notification about a month ago. I did the usual. I had it downloaded to my phone. When I got into the car, I think it gave me an alert and asked if I'm ready to install or something like that. I did it and it went through fine. I noticed after this update ASS seemed to work more smoothly. Did anyone else feel this? It says that it's supposed to improve some functionality but not sure what exactly. Anyone knows?

Adding to the thread: same issue here (car prompting, phone app clueless). Tried restarting app, logging in/out, updating status, etc.; nothing. Going to call Genius line on Monday, try to get escalated to someone who can figure out how to make the app not suck as much.

I received the notification on my car on Wednesday that the update was available and directed me to the app. The app thinks it's up to date with the old version. I've tried about everything on the app without success. Looks like a bunch of us are in Purgatory.

While it is rare to have a problem during the actual firmware update in the vehicle, if something does go wrong, BMW might be able to help IF they have good access to the cellular connection in the vehicle, and, worst case if that can't resolve the problem, since you may not be able to put the vehicle in neutral, it's much easier to gain access to the vehicle if it's already outside of the garage. IOW, if everything works right (most of the time), you could do the update anywhere, but if it goes wrong, you really want it where it can be accessed as it might require being towed to the shop to resolve it.

just another fcuk up from BMW's side, entity well known for the lack of performance in vehicle electronics
They force you to run updates through Mybmw app ONLY, while they did not even care to verify whether that works or not. In this case, it obviously does not work. When they released this, they were probably BMW is such a disgrace and disappointment ! |

I can't imagine the parking brake has anything to do with the problems most of us are having, where our apps are reporting we are up to date and apparently are not downloading the software update. Something is going wrong before we get to that step and the problem appears fairly widespread.

I have tried multiple times with all doors locked, all windows up, parking brake on, battery maintainer connected and still no install.

I’m believing most people outside of this forum won’t bothered by this at all, which is probably 99% of bmw owners. It is not like idrive or the car aren’t working. If these aren’t working, they will just take it in for warranty.

X5 screen says 07/2022.59 is installed. MY BMW app says 03/2021.50 is installed. The new 11/2022.60 will not download to my phone. I called Genius and was told that if the car and the MY BMW app become out of sync you must take the vehicle to the dealer to get it rectified.

I feel a bit sheepish here, as my OTA update to this version seemed to work great and as advertised. Does anyone know where to find details about what this update included? The summary refers to general improvements but I'm hoping for more details on particular past bugs (personal settings changing randomly, automatic time zone not working, etc). Thank you.

The only thing that BMW has to do is to make the update available in the MyMBW account but they haven't.

In the same boat as many here. Update shows up in the car telling me to use the MyBMW app to download it. iOS app says 07/2022.58 is the latest.
2022 X5 45e I’ve tried deleting the app logging out, resetting iDrive, etc etc. no changes. Still shows no updates in MyBMW app. |

I was able to upload 11/2022 to the car, however, it did not install. Finally took it to the dealership to have them install. They installed 3/2023. My app still says I am up to date and running 7/2022. I thought over night it might update on the app but it hasn't.
I have no release notes for 3/2023. Does anyone have them that can post to the forum? |

BMW conditioning the delivery of services already paid for by the use of an app or even a smart phone is totally wrong. I may want to drive a bmw and still not want use a non smart phone or device (just a hypothetical situation but still a possible one). Not to mention that bmw used to make those updates without the conditioning of any app, just a short while ago. Why is it any of my fault they released 2023 update while my vehicle still shows 2021 whatever? I take the vehicle in for maintenance regularly and it's not even 3 years old, it's not my fault and I am not getting the services I paid for. We are being taken advantage of in the "pay more while you get less" bmw's game. We should be coherently expressing our opinions regarding the quality of product/ services that we've paid for. |
