auto lighting and wiper system malfunction
Hi all,
I just had my windshield replaced by Safelite and now receiving this error code. I have them coming back in 2 weeks to look, but was wondering if anyone else received this error and if there’s something I can do to remedy the issue. Thanks. |

There is a gel pack between the windshield and the rain sensor, check to see if there is a crease, bubble etc. I had that error on mine and it was because a bubble developed and started interfering with the sensor. It was about 5 months after getting the windshield replaced. My dealer change the gel pack out for me. It wasn't covered by warranty since I had Safelite do the windshield but they were nice enough to only charge me for the part.

Cannot warn people enough times, steer clear of Safelite for BMW or really any modern car with sensors attached to the windshield. My ordeal went on for months.

Damn that sucks. Sorry to hear and I’m regretting it. My insurance only deals with Safelite which is stupid and annoying.

Your insurance company cannot force you to go to a specific repair shop, they may outsource the claim handling to Safelite (which is a whole issue in of itself), but you still have the right to go anywhere.
